Hello wonderful people! I'm a wee early with this blog as I normally write my blog on Sunday evenings, however I felt that I have already done some fun things this week and I have a completely packed weekend coming up, so I decided that instead of writing a novel for you all, which I hope would be a best seller and I would give you all autographed copies, I decided to split this week and weekend into two separate blogs. So stay tuned for my next blog that will hopefully appear Sunday if I make it until then! I would like to first take a brief moment to thank all the brave men and women, one of my uncles included, who are attempting to fight a fire at home that has grown to I believe ... read more

We realized it was Wednesday. For us Americans, what promptly comes to mind is the commercial with the camel named Mike. So of course our greeting to was 'Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, do you know what day it is? HUMP DAY, WHOOP!' Poor Mike was confused. I found the commercial on YouTube and he got a laugh out of it. He already thinks we are the craziest bunch of people he has met and this helped confirm that. I will give props to Sprint because in the UK we have unlimited text and data. They also seem to have a decent network here so I have been very pleased. Yeah technology! Not t mention there is free Wifi everywhere. As we have come and gone from the hotel the staff has asked us question about ... read more

Hello, lovely people! I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend thus far. I have to start by saying happy birthday to one of my favorite little men in the whole world. My wee nephew Cooper turns three tomorrow, and while I'm so so sad to be missing his mickey mouse themed birthday party today, Skype is a wonderful tool and I was able to see all of the party shenanigans. Rylynn always likes to take the phone and sit and talk with me about various things, and we always have interesting conversations. You learn a lot from a 5 year old. This week was another somewhat quiet week. My class this week was cancelled, and since I only have one class that means that I had no class at all for the entire week. It's a ... read more

Good evening/good afternoon, lovely people! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and preparing for a lovely new week that lies ahead. This week has been filled with a lot of down time for me, as I did not really have anything planned and so I stayed in Stirling for the week and this weekend. So even though I didn't really go anywhere this week, I'll still share my week with all of you because it's always a highlight of my week to write this blog and to keep you all informed :) We started our new classes for the second block this week, and since I only have class on Tuesdays I had a lot of time to do as I please, which I always enjoy. I know you're all thinking that I actually don't ... read more

On Saturday, June 20th, I went with a few friends to explore the big hill that overlooks the University of Stirling campus, known as Dumyat Hill. We had no idea what path to take to make it to the top, so we pretty much decided to make our own. A case of American arrogance, I guess! We started off on a path, but that eventually led us to the middle of a sheep pasture. After hopping the barbed wire fence of the pasture, we just started walking uphill figuring we would eventually find a trail that leads to the top. That took a little longer than we thought it would. After walking along steep ridges and making our way through little valleys created by streams (not to mention a lot of angry stares from confused sheep) ... read more

Yesterday I got to have the amazing experience of celebrating my 21st birthday in Scotland! Luckily it was nice weather and the group here at Stirling all went out to explore the city and pick up some groceries. There was a bicycle race going on in Stirling which was pretty cool to watch, and the streets of the city were exactly how I pictured an old Scottish town. In the evening, I was able to go out to one of the bars in Stirling with a group of new friends I've met here to celebrate. Most of them are from the University of Kansas, and it was really cool how willing everyone was to celebrate with me even though I had just met them! It was definitely a birthday to remember. My first class is tomorrow, ... read more

After about 8 hours and 30 minutes on a plane, I've finally arrived at the University of Stirling! It is an absolutely beautiful campus, and is also quite large. It seems like there will be plenty to do, and it won't be hard to catch a bus into the main town of Stirling from campus. Tonight we have a reception (at the castle on campus) where everyone from the study abroad program will get to meet each other. I attached some photos from some of the walking I did around campus when I first arrived, and there's still much more to see!... read more

Hey Everyone! I'm Laura ?. This time last year I was planning a trip to India. This indian adventure would change everything for me. Returning from that trip I couldn't wait to see what else the world had to offer and planned another thailand Malaysia and Singapore trip. Well.....that was it for me....stick a fork in me....I was done. So I started planning my great escape! But what to do and where to go? Well years before I had wanted to go to Australia, so it's a good place to start. Then that evolved into a trip to Dubai and a tour of China and Hong kong before i arrive in Australia. I gave up my job as an ITU nurse in a busy city hospital and sold all my things. So that's where I am ... read more
