On our way from Edinburgh we pleasantly stopped at the City of Perth, on a Saturday morning, only to find out that there was a wonderful market on the main streets of downtown. It was so busy with people everywhere and we walked around to pick up some wonderful surprise items, like extremely fragrant home made lavender and heather soap, delicious walnut bread, garlic cheese, sausage, Scotish medican (which was delicious, I must say) etc. and then stopped for a nice cup of coffee and scones. We then continued on our way to Dornie Ross-shire Red House with a few more stops along the way. We were absolutely blown away with the green hills of low growing fern, mauve heather everywhere along the hill sides, mountain sides, and along the road way. Also passing so many large waterways and locks as they call them. Seven hours later after leaving Edinburgh, we finally arrived at our rental house pleasantly surprised by the large house with a large kitchen, living room, dinning room and 6 bedrooms. I got the single bed bedroom with the nice view out front. Here we stayed for a total of 7 nights. We travelled about 1000 miles during
these 7 days. Each day took us somewhere new around the Island of Skye and the Highlands. Driving home was a challenge on very very narrow roads, with often hardly a single car passing us after 10 pm. It was rather difficult to find a place for coffee take out as well. We would all arrive back at the house only to all gather in the dining room for some excellent Scotish foods, etc. All 10 of us would then discuss our daily events and tours. What fun we had.
