Theater games
Cast warms up for closing performance with theater games This morning, we knew our closing performance of "Shakespeare Shattered" was at 12:00 noon to 2:00. So after breakfast, we rested and took the bus to Pilrig in time for the noon performance. Our cast did a very good job and had a good solid closing performance. I did not fall asleep!! I think it was their best performance. The review we got said "Worth Watching" and gave us 3 stars!!
Then we watched "Book of Days" and unfortunately, I did fall asleep during this show. Back out on the street, it started to rain so we got out our umbrellas and jackets. We were searching for the correct bus stop and it started to really RAIN! Then a very gusty wind came up and made it hard to keep your umbrella straight! You had to walk directly into the wind with your umbrella in front of you - not being able to see where you were going. All I could see were John's feet in front of me and I followed them.
At the bus stop, we had to wait for the correct number bus getting buffeted by the wind and pelted by wet rain. At last, the

Beautiful wood work around organ and pulpit at front of church right bus arrived and we boarded - it stopped raining and the wind died down! Then we rode in wet coats with dripping umbrellas while the bus driver had to negotiate traffic congestion due to tramway construction! ACH!!
I said to John, "At least we're sitting under a roof and we don't have to drive!" Wow!! It reminded me of skiing in the rain on Mt Hood - riding the lift up the mountain while a trickle of water dripped down your neck and back. Ah! those were the days.
We reached our stop and got out to find a restaurant to have dinner. We were on the Royal Mile and there was Bella Italia right in front of us with a small line which we got into right away. it was a short wait and then we were given a table in a cozy little nook of the dinning room. The restaurant was full of people because it was dinner time but we were quite comfortable and we could dry out. We took our time and had a lovely delicious dinner.
Back out on the street, there were crowds everywhere. We started gradually to make our

stained glass windows at side of church way up the hill to the Castle Esplanade where we were going to see the Military Tattoo. We met Susan at the designated spot and got our tickets, continued threading our way up the hill, and eventually found our seats in the grandstand. We were shoulder to shoulder so we didn't have to worry about keeping warm - I was glad I had my jacket anyway.
We watched the grandstand fill with people (John estimated 5,000 to 10,000). And the show began!! Bagpipe regiments paraded in all their colorful tartan uniforms, the drums kept the rhythm and the Brass and pipes played. It was a wonderful show!! Very well organized and patriotic.
At the end of the show, swarms of people gradually filed down to the street and walked down the hill. We walked down to Waverly station and caught the train to Musslebrugh. By the time we had walked to our rooms and signed in, I had gotten chilled enough to have aching muscles. I hope I will be able to sleep tonight.

Hi John and Marty, I appreciate the story/pictures of the Military Tattoo. Beth Boyd saw it and tried to describe it to us at the bridge table. Hurry home. Carolyn
