Dear All Yay! Greetings from Scotland! I’m afraid this doesn’t add to my country count, I’m still on 81, as I count England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as one country: the United Kingdom. But I am in Edinburgh, this is my first time in this city, and it also means I have now visited each of the UK’s four capital cities– London, Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh, in that order. I... Scotland
An interesting blog and beautiful photos. I never knew about Inchcolm, so I'll make sure to include this island on my itinerary, if I ever get around to visiting Edinburgh, as I've been wanting to go for years. You never know Scotland may become your 82nd country as I am sure they'll break from the union, at some point, it seems inevitable with the SNP and current future state.

Indeed, it seems Inchcolm is fairly little known to the tourist. I do recommend a visit if you're able to make your trip to Edinburgh. I do hope the union stays intact though, it would be a shame to see us split. Thanks for reading my blog Alan ?

Summer Break
On the road once again! Yay! Edinburgh is perched on the hill and becomes the focal point of the city. It is lovely and dripping with history and quaint pubs abound. Immersion into this part of the world is great. John Muir was a great man and you will see on your visit to California how much we adored him in the U.S. The John Muir woods are located outside S.F. The flowers are lovely and I can hear the excitement in your writing... it is good to be on the road once again. Happy travels.

Summer Break
Ah, how I would love to arrange that California trip again, and I'd certainly be able to see John Muir from an American point of view. Thank you for reading my blogs and for commenting, it does very much feel good to be back on the road again. It has been a long time. Hopefully we'll all be exploring again soon ?

New Adventures
Alex, I've really enjoyed reading this blog because it was like a reintroduction to Edinburgh. I didn't remember that there were extinct volcanoes there, and had forgotten other information as well. But I do remember visiting Holyrood Palace, Greyfriar's Bobby statue and the crystal bell with him on it that I bought (I love animals), and visiting a tartan shop among a few other places. You saw so much in the city as well as the surrounding small towns. Your photos are marvelous! Sounds like you are enjoying every minute of you visit there!

Bridge to Nowhere

That's funny
I don't know if I got this right. Is that a "normal bridge" at low tide and only get flooded and becomes "bridge to nowhere" at high tide? /Ake

Bridge to Nowhere

That's right
Yes, that's right. It's a normal bridge at low tide, and a "Bridge to Nowhere" at high tide. Very unusual, I've never seen a bridge like this before either.
