What a great lazy day. Up late. Shopped around for a place to have dinner. Went to the Cathedral, Cathedral Museum, Drygate Brewing Co and Walked and Walked. A good day. The one thing that impressed me about Glasgow is that the museums are free. I think this allows you to donate when you think this is good or awesome and if not.... see you later... For the most part they do a great job adding value to what you see in their museums as there is additional information that makes you think or appreciate what you see. In most places around the world you need to buy a brochure and loose time and interest. I really like what they have done. We thought the Cathedral and Museum were well worth our time today. Thanks. What a beautiful sunrise from the plane. Neither of us slept well but we managed to stay awake the whole day. The attendants were very good at Air Canada but the meal was just so so. The plane was a hour and half late taking off but that just meant we arrived at 8 rather than 6:30am. So we dropped our bags at the Jurys Inn and proceed to Starbucks for our morning latte. Got a new SIM card from Scotland so TELUS doesn’t get a chance to make unreasonable charges to my account. Found out some of my money was recalled so had to find a bank to exchange them. After some sight seeing on foot we did the hop on hop off bus to get a fuller lay of the City. We stopped at ... read more

I had been thinking of an A to Z of Glasgow for some time and was keen to have a go before the holidays. Also, I thought it would be nice to have a bit company. It had been ages since I’d seen Audrey Macintosh We had met in Stornoway and then did the Cape Wrath Running Week during the mid noughties. Since then, I had continued to race locally and coached for a few years whilst Audrey had completed some mind blowing events by attempting a Global Odyssey to run 100 Km and a marathon on each continent whilst fund raising for Alzheimer’s Research. In contrast I had ran up and down a hill I can see from the windows of the house. We met at the Armadillo on Sunday – Audrey had agreed to ... read more

Today dawned a little wet; as we hit the bus, there was a very light drizzle. As we departed Liverpool to head toward the lake district, the skies opened up. Our coach driver was fortunate in a way; he had to deal with wet weather but no traffic. Oh well… we settled in for the two hour trip to the lakes. Our first stop was a bit unique: a ride on a steam locomotive. Due to the light traffic, we arrived quite early, in plenty of time to enjoy a scone and coffee. Here we learned firsthand about the great scone controversy. It seems the cities of Devon and Cornwall differ on how one should eat a scone with clotted cream and jam. Devon puts the cream on first and the jam covering the cream. Cornwall ... read more

This morning was a little troublesome. We were packed and had brekky nicely timed, but then when we were leaving and went to pay our landlady, our cards were declined. ALL OF THEM! She only takes debit cards because of the charges with credit cards, but our debit cards wouldn’t be accepted. We gave her what cash we had and went up to wait for our bus. We were now 20 mins late after all the fluffing around with the cards. Luckily Natalie was also running late, but she was able to lend us £150 cash to give the landlady and we could be on the way. Apparently that had also just happened to the Canadians at their lodging. Natalie also then paid for us four to get in to Eilean Donan Castle, our first stop ... read more
