Cruising Loch Lamond
Day 8&9 continued

The morning started out with a journey along the banks of Loch Lamond, first by boat. The skipper told us stories about Rob Roy, Scotland's Robin Hood. He pointed out the cave where Rob Roy went when he lost his lands. After the cruise the bus continued along the lake where we saw the site of the infamous MacDonald, Campbell 1692 massacre. This happened in Glencoe, Glen of the Weeping on February 13th.

Later we saw Ben Nevis, England's highest point. We even saw the top, normally the clouds cover it but we were lucky. Apparently the bus driver has been doing this route for 17 years and he has seen the top less than 6 times. My pictures cannot begin to capture the beauty of this area.

We also visited the Commando Memorial near Fort William. There were recognition for soldiers in the great wars and some for current losses.

Just before dinner we visited a real life Highland sheep farm, the shepherd showed us how his dogs carried out his commands and performed different tasks with different whistles. He has 16 dogs and a couple thousand sheep.

Commando Memorial
next couple nights in a ski town, it reminds me of Collingwood but smaller. Time to wrap it up until tomorrow when we are off to the Isle of Skye.
