There are 2 ways to travel through life, you can drive or be driven. Today we started driving. All week I’ve been sitting on the right side of the bus, watching traffic as if I was driving to get used to the backwardness. Last night we mapped out an escape route from the rental place at Waverly Station making it a series of simple left hand turns to get out to the main road out of town. In conversation with some of our tour group we found that there was an access from a floor in the bowels of the hotel that takes us to within 100 metres of the station. That was great news since we were going to be hauling our luggage which includes Vicki’s monster suitcase which for some reason I’m always carrying. On emerging outside from this way shorter route, we found our path blocked by a closed road. And it happened to be one of the roads we needed for our easy escape. Once we got our car, we jammed the gps onto the windshield and Vicki tried to read the map the rental company gave us to get out of town. Map was useless. Gps

started spouting “recalculating” in an accusatory English Lady’s voice which means you didn’t take the road she told you to. 30 scary turns later, down side streets and bent streets and crazy roundabouts that don’t look like roundabouts and the gps finally said “ travel 24 miles on A90” which meant we were finally heading out of town and wouldn’t have to make a turn for 24 miles. Whew!!
Now, we’re sipping red wine and relaxing back in Fort William. Logged a total of 5 geocaches for Scotland, since we have free wifi tonight.
