4:36pm - Well, we are currently situated in the International Lounge of the Orlando-Sanford International Airport awaiting the call for our flight which is scheduled to depart at 7pm, so we'll be waiting for a while. Rebecca picked us up at 1:45pm and then we drove over and picked up Cindy's parents at 2pm. We drove up the Greeneway to Sanford and had a late lunch at Sonny's BBQ. We are all very grateful to Rebecca for taking the time to drive us so far and for be available to pick us up when we return in 2 1/2 weeks. Security, as expected, is tight. So tight that when I put my glass case with my clip-on sunglasses inside in a bowl and sent it through the scanner, someone on the other end picked it up ... read more

I've just finished a ten day stint on small, relatively featureless island somewhere off the west-coast of Scotland... and it was luverly! I finally managed to get off my arse a bit and do some work. Not that much, but just enough to appreciate the spare-time and solitude in between and get some inspiration for many a song on Lila. I stayed in a converted barn next to an old millhouse with a stream and a waterwheel. My only companion was a slightly oafish German who was doing the same thing as myself, and who took great satisfaction in referring to me as 'fucking Auf-stghralian guy!'. As we were within such close range most of the time, we soon learned how to survive together and he eventually turned out not to be that bad after all. ... read more

...life goes ON! HAAAAA! Or, more accurately, life GOES- once again! I'm finally off my arse and 'OOT' of the Edinburger for a while! The last five days have been spent charging around the Highlands taking in all of the marvellous beauty it has to offer. Pegs, Angus and I set off on Sunday to the Isle of Skye, on the way to which we were entertained by our animated bus driver 'Party Marty' while he filled us in on Scotland's rich history by telling us detailed stories of 'who bled all over which battlefield' and 'who's head was thrown into which river'. When we stopped of Loch Ness, Angus (crazy South African!) jumped in and went for a wee swim! (It is, you may care to know, currently the middle of WINTER in Scotland!) The ... read more

Massive Confusion William Wallace Monument Full bus tour up North. There were tons of tours leaving from the Haggis office this morning. 1, 3, 6 and 8 day tours. We were on our way by about 9AM which was about an hour after we were supposed to be at the office! Bit of talking by our driver Mike and we were at the William Wallace Memorial. It was a bit of a steep trek uphill but there were nice views and we learned a bit of history of the Scottish hero William Wallace. It also gave us a chance to start chatting with one another especially since we’ll be spending the next six days together. There are a lot of Aussies on tour and yet again another eclectic mix of people. A few older travelers and ... read more
