After a good night,s sleep in Rothesay it was off into a serious force 8 gale force wind to the ferry terminal. Lucki

Luckily the ferries were still running and crossed over to Wemyss Bay without hitch and might I say very smoothly. They must have a very efficient stabilising system. We cycled down to Largs and had a coffee in Nardinis before being met by two local cyclist who rode with us until 3pm. The first island today was Great Cumbrai which is just about 12 miles around and very picturesque. The only town is Millport, which is a tourist town with nice sandy beach and is home to an annual Country and Western Festival. The sea had cut up very rough when we arrived back at the terminal and we weworse dried the ferry would have stopped operating but were relived when we saw it coming back towards us. Next stop Ardrosson which we luckily bypassed since our friends told us was worth a miss. By the time we got to Arran the afternoon sun had disappeared and we disembarked in Brodick to a very cool, windy reception. As we do in such circumstances we went for abrews and piece of carrot cake. Before we set off Stephanie made some laminated notes for the front and back of my bike to indicate what we were doing. The cafe proprieter saw the note after I had paid and gave me back the money for Cancer Research. This in now £34 we have been given from such lovely people in two days. Yesterday we were talking to some walkers who gave us £4, our cyclist friends today gave us £20 and a kind lady, who had seen our bikes in the ferry queue gave us £5 after we got on for Cumbrai. Our kind host for tonight is a local clergyman, who originates from Manchester and picked us up on twitter. The kindness of some people is amazing. Bill destroyed his towel rail in his bathroom but a few match sticks and a screwdriver had it fixed inlittle time. I hope nothing else falls off before we go, otherwise we could be here a while.
