Another view of Glencoe looking back from the big hike
After heavy rain during the night, we awoke to a clear day perched on the edge of the car park overlooking the three sisters at Glencoe so we took the opportunity for a 2 hour hike into the mountains following a watercourse. There was some great scenery and numerous waterfalls along the way. We finally made it back to the campervan and ambled into the village visiting the Glencoe Visitors Centre followed by a drive into the village where Andrew made the mistake of ordering a “Real Man‘s Haddock” which turned out to be the size of a Marlin Fillet.

We then visited the Glencoe massacre memorial commemorating the overnight massacre of 38 members of the McDonald Clan as they slept including woman and children. They had invited their assailents (Campbells) to lodge with them that evening. By this time the weather had changed and the rain set in so we continued our journey into Fort William where we stocked up on water from a local gas station and visited Inverlochie Castle where Queen Victoria is quoted as saying “there is nothing much to see here”. From there we headed to Inverness stopping off regularly at scenic spots along Loch

Ness including Urquart Castle and Fort Augustus but alas, there were no strange sightings withnessed in the inviting waters of Loch Ness. We had a drive around Inverness but at 10:30 pm dusk had brought our day to an end so we parked out front of a Church for the night.

It was titled “Real Mans Haddock” on the menu! Andrew wasn’t quite expecting the haddock to be the size of a marlin.
