We had thought that the parking attendants in this city did not sleep in and how right we were. Over the weekend RR has enjoyed a free space on the side of the road adjacent to our home but from 8.30am today she either has to be on the road heading for our sightseeing for the day or she has to have a sticker in the window showing we have paid for her to be there. Today I had to to use my time wisely because i still wanted to see the National Gallery and I had to pick up my train tickets and make sure I didnt miss my train! If you do miss it your screwed because your supposed to just have a ticket for that one train otherwise buy another one right!!! So i got through the gallery in record timing (wasnt allowed to wear my camel back i had to carry it on my side). Saw the impressionist paintings i wanted to see Monet Van Gogh and Rapheal very cool indeed. Then it was just a short stint to Waverly station. Tag 71: Carnoustie - Auchtermuchty, 58.36 km, Fahrzeit 3:51, Durhschn.15.14 km/h, Höhenmeter: 496, Gesamtstrecke 3750 km Die Strecke führt schön flach von Carnoustie bis nach Dundee. Hier kämpfe ich mich durch den Großstadtverkehr zur Touristinfo in der Hoffnung, noch weitere Karten zu bekommen. Leider gibt es dort nichts. Nach kurzer Pause geht es über die Tay-Brücke, genauer gesagt über die Tay Road Bridge, nach Fife (oft auch Kingdom of Fife genannt). Wenige Kilometer weiter westlich verläuft die alte Tay Railway Brigde aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Diese Brücke wurde gebaut nach dem Einsturz der Tay Bridge im Jahre ???, bei dem in einer stürmischen Nacht ein Zug mit 70 Personen versank. Welcome back to my blog. As you may know I'm now just about to hit the road on a cycle epic to Norway lasting 2 months or thereabouts. I'm starting tomorrow from Dundee with a quick 50-miler down to Rosyth where I'm boarding the 17:00 ferry to Zeebrugge, yes Zeebrugge - probably further away from Norway than Rosyth! But the plan is to then cycle around the north sea coast, via my Belgian friend in Ghent for a few days :), and then up across Denmark to Copenhagen maybe in time for my birthday on the 27th (last years birthday was spent on the Inca Trail in Peru!). So it's both of our last days at work so the countdown is really on! We are off to watch Scotland Vs England at Murrayfield on Saturday before we head down the road to see my folks before flying away from Manchester early on Wednesday morning. For those that don't know, our plan is something like this... Arrive Singapore 13th March and spend 3 and a half weeks travelling up Malaysia and Thailand before reaching Bangkok. We then get on a 13 day trip through Cambodia and Vietnam before heading to Japan on the 21st April.
