Yesterday was the first day in the history of my life, that I met someone who has NEVER heard of the Green Bay Packers or the NFL. I thought I would never see that day, and sadly...I did. It snowed here today. I woke up to a very sloppy and slushy 1/2 inch snowfall. It snowed for the greater majority of the day and finally quit. I thought I left snow behind for the season and it just likes to follow me wherever I go. Otherwise, not a whole lot going on here. A couple of us are planning a trip this weekend to visit some local castles. I know, SWEET! I am already an RA, but I am applying to RA for Chancellor's Hall, the apartment style dorms on campus, this Sunday--lucky me I get ... read more

Feasgar math!

Here is a link to my pictures that I have taken so far on Snapfish. I don't know if you have to sign up to see them, but this is the only way I am having luck getting them uploaded. I ended up going to the computer lab where I have a faster internet connection. I can't do it on my laptop in my room. http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=274279651/a=75322821_75322821/otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink Let me know if it works. If not I can email you the link as well. Today I got to experience all my classes. I have a total of 14 hours of class one week and 17 hours every other. I'm pretty busy, but I don't mind at the moment. One of my classes is only for the first 6 weeks which made me VERY happy. So far, I don't ... read more

Today was my first day of classes. I only had two to go to, which wasn't that bad, but I got lost finding my second one. ONCE AGAIN, GO FIGURE. I got up bright and early because my adviser said I needed to visit this office. Apparently over here, you pay money for your syllabus(s). It cost 2 pounds for one and the others I think I get in the class. Another different thing over here is that if you want to print something, you get a 1 pound credit. After, that you have to "top up" on your personal ID to be able to print some more. It might cost around 5-10 pence per page.I don't even know where to print things off...I better check into that... I walked into my biology course, which was ... read more

I have made it safe and sound! I did not land in the Hudson, get "LOST" on an island or end up in India, like I predicted might happen to me. This is going to be a pretty long entry, seeing that I finally got internet in my room TODAY. I'll fill you in on what has happened to me the past couple of days... My flight from Milwaukee to Chicago was short and sweet. I met up with one of my travel buddies, Kate, and we flew the entire trip together. Chicago was interesting. Neither Kate nor I are very experienced travelers, so it took a little help from the info desk to direct us to Terminal 5, and the only way to get there is by shuttle. Security was pretty tight as well. Security ... read more

We in Scotland 24 to 28 November and it had snowed so much that there was a good covering on the hills, but had melted so it was ok to drive (we have hired a car, Peugeot, diesal, new). We were on a pilgrimage to Laurie's ancestral home and we found it! "Strath" means valley and "Dee" is the name of the river that runs into AberDEEn, past Royal DEEside aka Balmoral. We found a good community project: a castle in Braemar which was just being closed for winter and will be restored by the village. Some years ago when concrete was popular, it was clad in concrete render. That render is now falling off, and needs to be replaced! it is a 50 year project! We visited Margaret and Jim and the girls in Aberdeen ... read more

Wednesday 1 October: I woke up as usual and was just thinking about how late I could leave it before I needed to crawl out of bed so that I wasn’t going to be late, when somewhere from my sleep fogged brain I remembered that yesterday was my last day at A2B (how could I forget how red my face felt standing there with everyone watching while I bumbled my way through a very quick “Thank you and goodbye” - I don’t think my leaving speech will be going down in the annals of A2B history!) So, that meant there was no need to get up this early especially on a dark dreich morning like this; as I fell back asleep I began to wonder how long it would take to break this early morning habit ... read more
