Finally the day I get to move into my very own flat has come! I am very much looking forward to living out of a wardrobe again rather than a suitcase! I had a rather over-due sleep in on Monday morning. I started packing up my things ready to move into my new flat today. I got my first bag ready and caught the bus from Shepherd’s Bush into the city. However, thanks a section of the road being closed near Notting Hill, the rain, and excess traffic we were not getting anywhere fast. I jumped off the bus and got on the tubes at the next station and headed in to my new flatmate Irene’s work near Oxford Circus. It took me over an hour and half to get there instead of the expected 15-20 ... read more

I was slow to rise, this morning . Mike and Butch were up gone by 7:00 . I caught up on all my blogs, but have been very frustrated trying to find the time and a place to log in and publish them. I have not been successful since we left Edinburgh. Tried Starbucks today by their server was down. Will try again in the morning after breakfast. We spent the day in London just reconnecting with everyone and wandering the streets. The McGinty’s arrived, and we finally found the Thomases at the Hilton. No wonder I could not find the at the Marriott last night. We met for lunch, and then took the tube to the Hilton to hook up with Ted. On our way we walked by a Starbucks, looked into the window and ... read more

We spent the next few days seeing the sites of London and trying not to look too much like tourists. We saw several galleries, museums, parks, and other notable buildings and walked a lot, but the highlights were definitely the Cathedrals. We managed to attend Evensong services at each of them and heard some of the finest English choral music out there. We also made a side trip to Canterbury on sunday for Church and more great music. Canterbury Cathedral sits on beautiful, green grounds within a picturesque, quaint English town. It was very cool to see this historic place, the center of the Anglican Church.... read more

So, here we are a mere 9 weeks (its ages!!!!) until we are off on our adventure. Starting to feel excited...wish we were going tomorrow! Phil brought home his brothers roller bag yesterday to see whether I thought it'd be big enough for us to use. Its tiny! I understand the principal of travelling light, but I don't think we are going to fit hardly anything in it. Might work on convincing Phil to buy a new huge roller bag and take the smaller one for all the things we will want to bring back! Things to do... not much... might make a list in a minute. Things to worry about... Sleeping on the flight, Funny smells (everyone knows my fears about these). Ah!!! Its exciting. ... read more

It's raining, and it sucks. Well, I've had a great time, seen interesting things, met great people, drank lots, ate lots, got in far less trouble than makes for good stories, but thoroughly enjoyed myself. So, where next?!............ read more

Well we go off again tomorrow morning - catch the tunnel train at 9.00am. Much lighter with car, top box (with camping gear in!) and car crammed full plus dogs. We have spent two or three days in the Peak District, waiting to pass on the Moose - r eally sad about that - brilliant vehicle, but not to be. Going over old times in the Peak - all those miles I rode on Freeway training for the endurance competitions. So beautiful and wild - almost stops you breathing! We have had some hilarious and horrendous times in the past week - I will write those up and put them on the blog with some photos, over the next week or so. If I was Bill Bryson it would make a book! I should think Kath ... read more

So I've just got back to London after a week of running around mainland europe and it was soo much fun. So I left London on the 18th and after landing in Paris and eventually making it to my hostel (I spent a good hour just trying to get a train ticket!) I spent the afternoon in the Lourve (a very impressive palace in it's own right) which is the first museum I've been in where I haven't got bored after a few hours. In fact it closed before I got bored of it! Saw the Mona Lisa and some Michaelanglo sculptures and lots of ancient Egyption and Roman artifacts which was amazing even though I can't read French and all the info in the gallaries was in French! Next time I think I'll get one ... read more
