Hi again everyone...after a busy weekend last weekend in Poland, we went camping in Shropshire at a campsite we have visited several times before last year and again..this year was no disappointment. Firstly, the campsite is in a rural setting surrounded by fields with sheep, cattle and other wildlife that visited around our tent at night which included rabbits which was nice. The campsite is called 'Cartref' and is located at Ford Heath which is west of Shrewsbury. The owners, Pat and Alan are the most welcoming people you'll ever meet and always stop to chat no matter how busy they are. The toilet and shower block is in pristine condition and cleaned everyday, and we suspect its cleaned twice a day and is one of the reasons why we return to this idyllic site ... read more

\oh my goodness there are so many people here, it is overwhelming, amazing but overwhelming especially as we are still abit punch drunk! with jet lag. Have had a great couple of days. Yesterday after arriving and finding our accomodation, very funny experience going up and down the same street looking looking looking and being directed by people who thought they knew but actually didn't! We are in a tiny little attic type room at the top of fifty million stairs and only one of us can stand up at a time as the roof is sloped, great london experience, we headed to the Tower of London. absolutely amazing, so old and we were given a tour by a beefeater. Saw the crown jewels while there also. Then today we headed out to the London dugeon, ... read more

29 May - 13 June I arrived in London very late and woke up very late to a beautiful sunny day in London. After resting the first day I went to the Indian High Consulate to begin my visa process. I was hoping to get a visa in one day but, no, because I hold a US passport there not only is a higher processing fee but it takes 3-5 days to process instead of one day. What is it with US passports in Europe? So I spent a day or two walking around London and seeing the sights and generally being a tourist. But very quickly it became apparent that London is one damn expensive city. Once realizing that (over a $4 cup of coffee) I spent a lot of time just trying to ... read more

London, here we come, baby!AmandaAirport Disaster (RAIN) We started the day by “trying” to get to the airport. I say, “trying” because we took this really fast train from the Stockholm Central Station to the Arlanda airport. The train seriously went 200 km/hr. We got to the airport 3 hours early and then realized that we needed to go to the other airport across town. I'd be lying if I said this was the first time my sister has done this "go to the wrong airport" thing. It was 1.5 hours away and would have cost us 1500 kr to drive there. We tried to figure out what to do but we ended up just taking the next plane from Arlanda to Heathrow Airport for about 1.5 million US dollars. Needless to say, Michelle was not ... read more

Down one, about 90 more to go! Ironically enough, we most likely had our best meal for the next 4 months on the flight over. Did I mention we were flying Executive Class? Thanks to Peter's (Em's Dad) pull in Air Canada and Mike's (Kev's Dad) generous dress shoe donation, we hopped on board with the other rich English blokes. All I could think of was 'Which one of these things does not belong'. Kevin needed to wear Mike's dress shoes in order to get on board. Mike, on the other hand, wore some fantastic Beijing-made slippers courtesy of Peter. Thanks dad! After some initial problems navigating London's tube-system and a fire alarm scare, we found our way to Waterloo Station where we would spend the night... assuming there was a room to be had. ... read more

Having been awarded one of only fifteen places on the Media Net Academy at the Churches Media Council Conference, turned up excited by the prospect of three days at working at the crossover between the media (specifically, the web/internet) and Christianity. The general gist, as I understand it, is that many Christians see the media as a place of ‘evil’, and by encouraging more young Christians into the media maybe we can change the perception of this… We were soon introduced to each other as a big group, then divided into streams. Our ‘web stream’ was Elizabeth (a journalist), Fran (PR), Gareth (radio DJ), and myself. Rachel, our trainer, talked us through our aims for the site, etc, and then introduced us to ‘wetpaint’ so that we could concentrate on site structure and content, rather than ... read more

Today will be my second full day in London. Its been such a busy past few days. Tuesday night my dad and mom drove me up to Phoenix so that I could catch my direct flight into London Heathrow. The plane was amazing! I have never seen such a big plane in my life. Our flight took off at 9:00pm Phoenix time so we flew all night. I thought that I would be able to get some sleep but I ended up sleeping about 30 minutes the entire flight. We got to Heathrow at about 2:30pm London time. We had a fairly easy time going through the airport with our baggage claim and customs. There were 4 other girls on this flight so it was nice to have other people to travel with. We took ... read more

On Saturday 9 June, I brought myself a pushbike, helmet, lights and lock, this is to enable me to bike to work, get fit and save some money. Sorted everything out and biked round to my parents in Great Baddow for lunch. Unfortunately, as I had not been on a pushbike for many years I was not able to get up all the hills! It was also rather hot so was a little out of breath when I got there. Having spent 10 minutes or so cooling down, took my mum for a big food shop and returned for lunch with my dad and brother. Realisation hit me when I thought I'd get some things whilst shopping but couldn't as I was on the bike and that I would have to bike home as well. ... read more
