Well here I am in London having flown from Japan via Moscow. The differences are amazing and endless, and its taken a little while to get my head around what country im in, what im doing here and what im doin next. Weve been lucky enough to stay with an old school friend, Bec and she and her boyfriend Shaun have shown us a grand old time in London Town. Weve done a lot of walking and exploring, doing all the touristy things of course, including Harrods, Buckingham Palace, all the circuses and Tate Modern, Big Ben, London Eye. Weve had beers in Kensington Gardens, cheered on the rowers at the Cambridge/Oxford boat race and checked out Hampstead Heath and Camden Markets. Also had a night out at the Walkabout in Sheperds Bush, which was a lot of fun and very very Australian. It was great to have a taste of home and watch the Aussies beat the Poms in the cricket.

The rowing was such a big thing over here, over 1/4mill people lined the river to watch it, we sat in a park just back from the river with a big screen broadcasting the race. Before the race

Trying to phone home!!!they had interviews with the coaches, team profiles etc just like before a afl grand final! We also met up with Sam Tucker and his girlfriend Lauren which was great to see them! The Walkabout was packed and we got introduced to our first 'snake bite' (beer, cider, rasberry cordial) interesting! The music there was great and the dance floor was pumping, at one stage this guy picked me up and was spinning round and around and Amy was in hysterics the whole time all I could hear was her laughing it was so funny! There are so many aussies and other internationals in London we have hardly come across any English at all which sort of makes you forget where you are!

Brick Lane is a cool little street where people try to get you into their Indian restaurants by giving you free drinks and cheap food.

my old stamping ground
Even tho I was born within coo-ee of London I guess I can't really say I know it that well! But have had plenty of visits so the sights you are seeing are familiar!! Pity we couldn't have organsied a Queen's garden party invite for you. Wendy had one coz her grandfather was British. I didn't get one and I am a fully fledged POM! Must have been something to do with not putting in an application form! Were those toilets really in London? YUK!!! Where do they wash their hands? What if they need a shake? (Sorry, I am always thinking of the practical problems!!). The dog loo must be for well trained dogs. Expect there are lots of dogs walking around London with their legs crossed waiting to come across a doggy loo. Sorry, seem to be getting stuck on the toilet humour!! We are off camping and fishing at Marion Bay on Anzac Day...we'll eat the fish we catch and then go out to dinner. The kids still love making damper in a fire in an old 44 gallon drum....ahh...the real Oz way!! Lots of love... Sheila
