Crop Circles in Somerset

We drove down from London a little despondent as our paperwork for the car was still not back from customs who in their wisdom decided to send it second class royal mail, which probably should be named second rate royal mail. Given it is not possible for us to leave the country in the car without it we were more than a little anxious when it did not turn up by the allotted time.

Regardless we headed down to Cousin Bevs which is an amazing little village, surrounded by lush green pastures right in the middle of crop circle country and in the right season so we have been studying the fields as we drive. This area is not noted for its wide, straight roads and hence we feel like we have been making crop circles of our own. To say we have been a little lost would be an understatement and attempting to turn the queen mary on these country lanes ('A' roads) which Darren and I have renamed B minus roads when we have missed the turnoff is no mean feat. We have also been struggling with their speed signs in Miles, and the turnoff signs in Yards, by the time we have done the maths to convert we have no idea if we have been speeding and have definitely driven past the turnoff. The conversations goes something like how far is 3/4 of a mile. Woops that was the road, oh really...shit!!!

We spent the day down at Lyme Reges which is a very odd name for a pebble beach on the Jurassic coast. It was like a scene from Doc Martin's and was about as quintessential English as it comes. It is famous for its fossils and we fossicked, Darren found two little ones whilst us girls (Bev, Mum and I) paddled in the Chanel which is a fair few degrees cooler than our oceans.

Frozen feet, interestingly there was not anyone swimming, infact all the other beach goers were fully clothed. Its obviously very formal on the beach over here.

I can see I need to take up fishing. Computex in Taipei is definitely shortening my life - mind boggling. (got some cool vehicle related guff for you guys :-) ) Never mind about paperwork, you have started, even if it is the wrong direction
! Now you are in UKland with all of the issues related to the rather large size of your vehicle and the relatively small size of the roads, perhaps you better change the reference from the truck to the Lorry. BTW, is the Brit' summer really the same as an Oz winter? Even if similar, it doesn't make me feel any better heading Down-Under in the next couple of weeks. Hi to Cousin Spaghetti and Ma Brinks!

Amazing Happy Pants! Hope your paperwork comes through soon. Raia update - rode her alone to Coleiro's place this morning, poor Lucky had conniptions and Raia was nervy but very brave, you would have been proud of her. Sarah rode her home
