Hi Everyone, I have recovered from my jet lag and preparations for the world championships are in full swing. Yesterday we went to watch Jock have his final lesson. His horse, Promise looks amazing and Jock feels he has peaked and should be good for Friday when he does his dressage test. Jock, his groom,Anka and Promise headed off for the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen in Normandy this evening. We will follow in the morning. It is a 6-7 hour ferry trip and the horses say standing in the truck. The Canadian team were due to go this morning but had to find alternatives. No livestock was allowed on because the channel crossing was too rough. Horses can become sick but are unable to vomit and seasickness would make them very unwell. The seas have ... read more

Wiltshire is a beautiful county indeed. Vast expanses of rolling hills covered with lush green vegetations and dotted by beechtrees on top of the hills is a lovely sight to behold. The county is full of country parks for wonderful walks. One such area is Marlborough downs. I took all these images on a day when it snowed a bit. The snow adds great contrast to the backdrops of beautiful landscapes speckled with grazing lazy-horses. Wilthshire has its own peculiar landmarks - the White-horse trails. These are painted white horses on top of the hill in nine different places. Marlborough downs is one of them. The rest are as below which I copied from one of the White-horse trail websites - The ALTON BARNES HORSE The BROAD TOWN HORSE The CHERHILL HORSE The DEVIZES HORSE i ... read more

We headed out from home at 18:00 Friday. The M4 was totally blocked. We left at Reading and headed up the A4, making Marlborough at around 9:15. We were later told that shortly after we got off the M4 the police closed it. Having missed dinner at the Sun Inn we headed out for Italian food. I had a stinking cold. Back in the room, discovered I had bought the recharger for the Eee but not the bit that adapts it for use with UK plugs. Today, after an excellent breakfast, we headed for Savernake Forest which is truly spectacular. We just wandered around, looking at ancient oaks and beeches. Some of the more ancient oaks have names and others do not. It was warm and sunny and still. We hardly saw anyone. I would highly ... read more

Riding to Marlborough I left work early. I was owed the tie but it was a bit awkward as my manager wanted a phone conversation “after 4” which means “I will call you at five to five and talk for at least half an hour.” I mailed back that I “was not available at that time”. Got the train to Osterley and met up with Ashley and the bike. Our planned route was A4, M4, Hungerford. We were both pleasantly surprised by how clear the roads were. There was traffic - quite a lot - but it was fluid, not a carpark. Much better than expected for the start of a bank holiday weekend. I was glad that I had put the quilted lining back in my jacket but it was not very cold. Ashley was ... read more

I can't believe it... I am sitting in my house writing this! That is the most wierd thing ever! We left Auckland at around 9:45pm, and we had the worst seats on the plane. We had the two seats right in the middle of the plane, which means we had a person on each side of us, so it was not very easy to keep getting up and walking around... It wasn't as bad as I had expected. I watched a couple of movies, and we were served dinner which was quite nice - I had roast beef, kumara and peas, we also got ice-cream for pudding, which was nice. I slept for a little while until they turned on the lights and served us with hotcakes for breakfast. They were really tasty! We landed in ... read more

Early in 2006, jan 2nd in fact, Ben and I decided that is was time to take a gamble and change our current way of life and sell up and quit jobs in the UK and move to the South West of France! For those new to the Honisett's, here is a bit of a background check. Ben Honisett - 31(Greyer than desired) Ben has worked for Dunwoody Marketing for nearly a decade climbing the internal ladder until last April when he was made General Manager of his department. Although having worked 14 hours a day 5 days a week for nearly a decade, Ben managed to woo and snag the delightful Helen (more about me later) using skills that would have made Homer Simpson Proud. Helen Honisett - 29 (But denies it regularly) Helen has ... read more
