Early in 2006, jan 2nd in fact, Ben and I decided that is was time to take a gamble and change our current way of life and sell up and quit jobs in the UK and move to the South West of France!

For those new to the Honisett's, here is a bit of a background check.

Ben Honisett - 31(Greyer than desired)
Ben has worked for Dunwoody Marketing for nearly a decade climbing the internal ladder until last April when he was made General Manager of his department. Although having worked 14 hours a day 5 days a week for nearly a decade, Ben managed to woo and snag the delightful Helen (more about me later) using skills that would have made Homer Simpson Proud.

Helen Honisett - 29 (But denies it regularly)
Helen has been for the last 18 months working at RM as a Broadband Product Manager but has in previous lives done everything from stuffing chickens and pouring concrete. Helen has travelled alot and has much experience of lying on beaches in SE Asia drinking beer - in fact she views this as one of her key skills.

So why France?
Having realised that there is considerably more to life than working and sitting on the A34 in a car the Honisetts have decided to follw the dream and relocate to France.

On the 18th April 2006 we leave Dover at 2am for a trip over La Manche to Dunkerque to start our adventure to find a house, a business and attempt to learn French.

Our aim is to find a property that we love but that will also allow us to bring in an income letting out gites (holiday homes) on site.

just to prove i am not quite as technologically challlenged as you think, i decided to be the first person to comment on your blog. and my comment is: very good; well done. by the way, i get France property updates from http://www.proprietes-roussillon.com, which might be usedful to you if it's the south-west you are looking at. i think it is from a british guy - certainly an English-speaker replies when i have queries. by the way, we should get together before you head off. lotsaluv, Will.

Ta.
First, thanks, Horse, for the pic of big Sean. Understand your desire to get away from English rugger. When you land, if the two of you need an old fart to do the washing up, prep, and drink you out of house and home, let me know. I could be your Gite Git. Much love. V+V.
