We're off again!

Yep.....the feet are getting too itchy, so we're planning another trip.

We're aiming to leave mid February for three months. Yes, it's a little early and will be a bit chilly at first but we have a wonderful reason for wanting to be back in the UK for the end of May........ Claire is expecting our second grandchild - due date 27th May!!! So husband Paul and 3 year old Joshua are pretty excited too.

Also Tom will be back in the UK for a week in May (he's a tour guide/driver for Dragoman, an overlanding company) between ending his trips around India and setting off for west Africa - we may, or may not catch up with him.

So basically, we're off to Crete - having read wonderful motorhoming stories about the island. The plan is to make our way from Calais, via Reims, Dijon and Chambery through the Frejus tunnel into Italy. From there it's via Turin, Parma, Moderna, Balogna, Florence,Arezzo, Perugia and Foligno to Civitanova Marche on the east coast of Italy. Then down the coast to Bari to take the ferry to Patras, across to Piraeus and finally a ferry to Heraklion, Crete.

Time-wise we're allowing 3 weeks for France and Italy, a week from Patras to Piraeus, a month on Crete and a month to get back..........haven't thought about the return journey yet!!

So it's all very exciting! Since this is a new blog site (our old one Traveleor went bust), we're still trying to figure out how it works. However, in theory we should be able to record our travels, upload photos and plot our route on the map.

Left hand drive
Very roomy and a great panoramic view. The amazing sound system can be operated from the steering wheel or from the sitting room.

Swivel passenger seat
Extra seat when 'entertaining'.It also reclines to almost horizontal....great when the passenger wants to snooze whilst driving along!

From front to back
Such a spacious and light interior with loads of storage. A full width 'boot' is under the U shaped sofa, accessible from inside or out.

From back to front
A good sized, sturdy table for eating, entertaining card/scrabble playing or spreading out the maps to plan the next day's trip

wardrobe & bathroom
The TV hooks over the metal plate.
Pic also shows heating/water controls and a digital thermometer to confirm how hot or cold it is!

Bathroom
Compact yet functional loo, basin and shower

Kitchen
More than adequate, especially with our nifty ‘double pan’ for roasts, pizza etc – a great double sink too.

Bedroom
Fabby, comfy full size double bed with loads of headroom to sit up in bed with a cuppa!

Sitting room
Wonderful triple view - great for entertaining and also stretching out to read, snooze or watch telle.........also converts into another double bed

Lovely to read the blog and looking forward to more news. Very envious. Cold here but signs of spring are peeping now and its more hopeful! Lucky you going to Crete. We love Greece. We go to the mainland - down from Athens to the deep Mani which is stunning. Next trip eh!!.... We last went to Crete when Olivia was tiny. We loved it and have a friend who lives on the south of the island. Lots to see and do and diverse terrain. Will you be able to go down the gorge at this time of year?
