Hello All. Very sorry for lack of news and photos! Things are still slowly plodding along - we now have a frim signing date for our final papers on the house. We will hopefully be flying back out to france on the 17th of September for a signing date of the 20th. Once this is done the house is well and truly ours!!! We get the keys and everything!! We will return pretty much straight away and we will then be looking at a final moving date around mid to end of October for myself and helen will follow shortly after. Our landrover should be under construction by now and I will go to the garage soon to check on progress and take a few pictures for those of you who are interested. We are really ... read more

Firstly Sorry for the long gap between this and the last entry. Right let's get down to business as usual - what are we doing! We have indeed signed the first set of legal papers and are now awaiting the next date for us to return to France for the final signing! All very exciting, but also a very long process - nothing much will happen with the documentation whilst the holidays are on. So I am sat at the cottage in Warwickshire, slowly but surley making our invasion plans. Helen is again working at RM until we return to France. Tomorrow I get to go to a landrover garage near solihul to talk about having a custom made defender for the business, which sounds quite exciting!!! We even get to choose the colour. It has ... read more

yet another day trip out of London. my tour guide was a total dushbag. i at first thought he was gay (not that there is anything wrong with that!) but i realized he is probably just a super sleazy middle age guy. my mom and i just got a really creepy vibe from him. we first went to Anne Hathaway's, Shakespeare's wife's house in stratford. it was really cute! it looked like something you would see in a fairy tale. beautiful house with some really nice garden and a maze. the gift shop had some stuff i considered buying but didn't because i feel guilty spending my money, and my parents who probably would have bought stuff for me. they had these books that basically were an EASIER CLIFF'S NOTES version of most of Shakespeare's popular ... read more

We left Salisbury @ 5:30pm, it's now 11:00 and we just checked into the hostel. It took us 3 trains, two buses and a taxi to get here ...whew. This past weekend was a 'bank holiday' and it was impossible to rent a car ANYWHERE. We did get to see the countryside from the train windows but now quite what I had planned. I stayed in Salisbury for the day and throughly explored the city while Evita took a bus to Avesbury to see the stone circle. The cathedral is amazing.took the tower tour and got to go up into the tallest spire in Europe to see how it was built...in 1220 ad no less. The medieval scafolling and beams are still there..we were up in the tower when the bells rang at noon. That was ... read more

Stopped at Sherwood Forest in Nottingham. Nice, quick walk through the forest before heading to Stratford. So picturesque here. In case you didn't know who was born here. It becomes ever so clear. A lot of the old homes seem to be linked to the Bard and his extended family. They're now shops, hotels and restaurants. Also his prose and poetry are stenciled on so many windows and walls.... read more

Well as the song goes "my bags are packed and I'm ready to go..." except that our Jetplane is actually a 1.3 Ford Ka - not quite as impressive but what is is the amount of stuff that we have managed to fit into the Ka named Cornelius. We have the tent - which we shall call home for the next 10 weeks, inflatable mattress, sleeping bags, duvet, camping stove, lantern, crockery, cutlery, kettle, saucepan, table and chairs, pillows, fire extinguisher (well Ben will be cooking occasionally!!!), and of course a change of clothes or two. We have also to Ben's horror the obligatory pair of Speedos that he will have to wear in the municipal Piscines - for photos please email!!! We are off on Tuesday morning at 2am from Dover and then on to ... read more

sorry this is so poorly written. I'm too lazy to write well. Soo I went to Stratford-Upon-Avon with the lovely Janet this weekend. As much as I love Shakespeare, I think alot of the things there were stupid. The plays we saw were awesome....veryyy much worth the money we payed. However, things like Shakespeare's uncle's brother's house or Shakespeare's wife's family's house were just not cool. I enjoyed historicla and factual information, but most of it was not factual. I suspect that the town passes off alot of info concerning Shakespeare that is just myth or just "possible" not even probable. Soooo that kind of felt like getting sucked into a tourist trap. shaekespeare would think all that mess is idiotic anyway. Warwick is a castle right next to Stratford. That was really neat. There was ... read more
