Today i had an injection of some dead hepatitis B virus. Once I had successfully had this injection, I passed out. The nurse had to press the emergency button in the clinic and lots of other nurses came rushing in. The appointment lasted 45 minutes instead of the designated 20. Upside, I got free the squash and biscuits that they normally give to 5yr olds for being good. I'd say this was a bad start, but so far I have managed to not turn up to three appointments because I keep booking them when I'm actually teaching a lesson. Today was therefore still bad, but it wasn't quite the start. Next injections, tuesday. No passing out then though.... read more

Well reality has kicked in that we will be going away in 2 days for a blooming good trip with our best friends. We fly out to Calgary on Saturday to meet our friends and then set off at some ridiculous hour on Sunday to start our drive towards the Grand Canyon. We then move accross to Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and finish with a few days skiing back in Banff. needless to say it'll be a tiring but very good trip. We will try and update this as regulary as we can, more for the benefit of the parents who hope to follow suit next year! Watch this space!!!... read more

L: Last full day in the UK for 21 weeks! Already arguing about what to write on Travelblog site. Have spent day printing out visas etc. and in the pub, this time tomorrow will be at Heathrow airport checking in for flight to Hong Kong! Had several good leaving do's in previous weeks, apologies to all re. Alex last Saturday who was hammered by 7:30pm and should have been left at home. A: It was a leaving do! Sunday September 3rd, 2006 Day 17 Guildford and Windsor, England I was up a little later today, it was nice to get a sleep-in. I finally dragged myself out of bed, got ready and we walked up the street to meet up with Chris's mate Simon and his girlfriend Nicky. The boys were playing a game of cricket today out in Windsor (though we did try and convince the boys to ditch the game and we'd go to Thorpe Park instead. Fail. Apparently cricket was more important than fun. After leaving the boys down at the cricket ground, Nicky and I walked into town and decided to do a tour of Windsor Castle. It only cost £13.50 to get in. We slowly made our way around knowing that we had a whole day to fill in. ... read more

Saturday September 2nd, 2006 Day 16 London to Guildford, England I was able to sleep-in a bit today, it was raining again so I decided to stay in bed a bit longer. Nick had taken the day off work so we decided to take a trip out to see the Cutty Sark and the Royal Observatory at Greenwich. So we jumped on the tube and made our way out there. On our way to check out the Cutty Sark first we stopped off at some market stalls. They weren't very impressive because it was early and they were still setting up so we moved on and around the corner to the Cutty Sark. The Cutty Sark was built in 1896 and was one of the last sailing clippers to be built, and it is the only ... read more

Well I had on the 10th of august updated this blog and written one about the trip between Leh and Manali but it failed to ever appear so here I go again along with the rest of my trip. The journey along the Leh-Manali highroad was interesting to say the least. The reason for the delay in leaving Leh was that the awful weather had affected the roads and bridges but we left in the knowledge that most had been repaired although there going to be expected delays as the weather had not eased off completely. We travelled in small jeeps with 5 people crammed in, one in the back with all the bags, less than comfortable to say the least. We were going for an hour and a half before we came to our first ... read more

This will be my last week at work and I'm really excited about getting started. To make sure I'm not forgotten I dragged the guys out to the all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant. Today we played a round of golf after work and tomorrow we are going out for beers and a curry. Lovely. I've decided I will leave for Edinburgh on Wed 23rd Aug 2006. From there I will travel Scotland visiting Fort William on my way to the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides. If I get time I will visit the Shetlands before Inverness where I will visit some friends. Then around the beginning of October its a quick stop off back home to see my family, new born nephew/niece, attend a stag do in Torquay and then head off to India. I'm planning ... read more

I am sitting at home just lazing around and not doing very much. England are doing well in the cricket for the first time in a while and having the luxury of lazing is something that i feel in three days time will be lost. I have a huge pile of kit just sitting in my room ready to be packed up tomorrow and a few little things to get but generally I am all sorted. For those of you reading this and unaware of what is about to be undertaken here is a brief intenary of the planned trip. Week One - Acclimatisation due to altitude and raft the head waters of teh Indus river. Week Two - Mountain bike the mountain passes across the Greater Himalaya.
