Well Burns Night was great, so thanks Kerry, Ian, Emma, Sarah, Jan and Clive for a very memorable evening to send me on my travels. Highlights of the evening: One of the older members of the Rotary Club (yes, Rotary and no, I am not a member) declaring to her friend "Did you just see that cleavage walk in" on my arrival. Kerry's worst day ever which was a very funny tale involving a jetwash and being hard of hearing (I won't tell all on here dahling!). Finding out that one of Emma's relatives invented margarine. Clive finding his previously un tapped talent for engergetic Scottish Dancing and Singing (with a scottish accent - I was very impressed). And Emma towards the end of the evening barefoot on the dance floor doing the Gay Gordons, pointing ... read more

Well, I thought I would be organised and start my travelblog early to make sure I know what I am doing! Starting to get very excited now about my trip having spent an hour with Fiona this morning (thanks Fi) and it also seems there are loads of people in Rio to meet up with. How exciting! So the countdown officially begins today with Burns Night Celebrations at the Burford Bridge Hotel, for much haggis, dancing and wine. I feel a headache coming on already...... read more

What I wish I had had Waterproof walking trainers (suitable for use as walking boots if you need them and passable for everyday wear - a definite purchase for my next travels!) A sleeping bag (this one is debatable, as it might very well be in the last column had I actually brought it - it would have been useful at times but I got by without it and it is awfully bulky…if you take one, let me know what you think!!) What I was especially grateful to have A head torch (for use when in a darkened hostel room filled with strangers so you don’t have to turn on the light!) Flip flops (hostel showers can be gross, so wear something on your feet!) A trekking towel (small packing and quick drying…ish) Warm socks (because ... read more

Ok, so my flight leaves in just over 10 hours...that is weird. After years of waiting I am finally going to wake up in 6 hours and drive to Heathrow, take a flight..and 8 hours later find myself in Toronto. WOW! I've said goodbye to my lovely Amy, which was the hardest thing i've ever done. Anyway, welcome to the first entry to the start of my amazing 4.5 month trip round the world with my good friend Andy Mather (I will give the link to his site in my next email). But anyway, I will try and post here as much as possible and leave lots of amazing pictures for you to gasp at. I will miss you all very much, so please leave me messages on here, and also lots of emails letting me ... read more

Heylo heylo! Spud has joined the crew and is all set to travel around the world (much more so than Lizzie, who is yet to get a debit card, start packing or fully understand how to use this damn travelblog...)! He would like to thank Cherie and Billy for rescuing him from a large and frankly quite intimidating pile of toys in The Disneystore, and for naming him (only later realising that he's actually from "Finding Nemo" and therefore supposed to be called Squirt...ahh well, Spud is better). He plans to do his best to stay with Lizzie and accompany her everywhere she goes...welcome to the adventures of Spud.... read more

Ok, so technically I haven't actually started travelling yet, but I am so damn EXCITED that I just had to start using this now! Also, I kinda want to get used to it before I leave the country - it looks pretty confusing and I'm not the most talented technical and logical mind the world has ever known... Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with Ele and me at The Weyside; it was a wicked night and I had such a good time! Hope you did too! Please keep checking this during the next 6/7months, as I am really going to make a concerted effort to keep it updated! Good luck back at uni/with school/with anything else you may be embarking upon...xx... read more
