I had a wonderful time last Saturday in Guildford summer festival - called 'Guilfest'. I have been in Guildford for few months for training. The usual suspects from our social club decided to attend the festival. As I am new to social club I didn't know what to expect on the day.
So I turned up to the club on Saturday morning rather innocently only to be jolted by the vision of grown up men, all dolled up in make-up with glistening lip-gloss and lady's frocks ! - A sight for sore eyes indeed. There they were - Chris, Collin, James, Johny, Mike, Martin, all in their colorful vaudeville dresses, sipping beer nonchalantly as if it was a day just as usual. The group had decided to attend the festival dressed up as women.
All those big boys in women's blouses were all having a good time - all of them had their nails varnished, lips glossed up and sporting a large wedding-day mother's hats. For all that bravado and glamour none of them were brave enough to shave their legs are arm-pits - well, may be next time ! However, Martin wouldn't be out done by these clowning
pretenders - he managed to find couple of tennis balls to play proxy for his new found breasts and it suited him as perfectly as a couple of silicon implants with sexy cleavage. If he had trespassed into lady's toilet he would have managed to fool all the ladies in there and made more than a few jealous of his shapely boobs, indeed.
I didn't know what hit me and I was rather bemused and a bit bewildered by the visual onslaught on my senses. To add to the drama - Helen, in her Britney Spears school girl out fit with 'Spank me' written on her back ! Well, true to the word and requiring no more an invitation - Mike, sporting a fine dress and pink lady's bag - spanked her bottom a few times. Then even more school girls joined to spice up the group.
After couple of pints all of them gathered up their Dutch courage and hit the road for a looooooooooooong walk to Stoke park which is about 5 km away ! What a sight - fine men in their colorful dresses and heels walking merrily waving to the cars and trucks in
the traffic - M&S girls, move over - 'Here come the girls, girls, girls, hairy girls of Guildford'. Several cars and truck drivers beeped their horns in glee in return for the waves of transient transvestites on the street - a cheerful and a colorful scene indeed. All along the way on our long walk it was fun. People passing by smiled and laughed with the group. Some stopped for a chat for few minutes.
When the beers consumed started telling on their bladders Martin couldn't be bothered being a 'lady' - he just found a hiding corner to lift his skirt. Well, James wont be out done either. He found a bush at a bridge to relive himself - Men will be men or rather should I say 'Gentlemanly Women'. We crossed several junctions and couple of shopping malls to eventually reach Stoke park.
Stoke park is a large open ground suitable for concerts. Atmosphere inside the park was electric. A large crowd had gathered in summer spirits to enjoy the lovely sunny day. There were so many little groups and families enjoying the festival music played by the bands. Some were on a folding chairs which
they have purchased from the stalls and others were on the lawn on a picnic mat. All enjoying the day out in Sun - a little girl danced with her blue bushy hat and her Dad clicked snaps, a toddler next to us tried his tender hands on a drum. Another little boy kept wandering and bumping into other groups, frequently embarrassing his mom who kept apologizing for his forays.
There was the unmistakable ice-cream van with his jingle music. And the large beer stand for beers and ciders. They were promoting pear cider and it tasted nice indeed. There was a skinny women walking on a tall stumps and a skin head man with 'pink' Mohican's hair style. And there was some street entertainers in Egyptian tunics and Turkish hats. A bright red van selling strawberry smoothies in the corner. Stalls everywhere selling all sorts of foods and sandwiches.
In among this lot was our brave 'gentlmenly women' having a good time. Chris was the linchpin for the group. He had also invited another group of his friends to join ours. They were all bemused by the antics of men in frocks. I had a few pints
and enjoyed clicking all those delightful images of the lovely day. It was a wonderful day to let your hair down and go with the flow - a vibrant and enchanting Guilfest, indeed.
