Kit Laying Out
Kit ready for inspection "D"day is approaching!!
If "D" day is departure day we are currently "D" day minus two. We have been involved in preparations for many weeks. If we just let pass the time spent booking flights, hotels, transfers, car hire, tours, checking and updating insurance, passports, visas and vaccinations; ensuring we have tickets, vouchers and medication; arranging for Post Office to keep mail and for neighbours to keep an eye on the house; advising banks and credit card providers, landlord, letting agent of our travels we come to packing. Annie tells me it must be planned as a military operation (with her as the Commanding Officer). The C. O. has identified my role as key to the success of the operation. The role is in two parts:-
1. Do as you are told immediately you are told to do it.
2. Be ready to take the blame if anything goes wrong.
"D" day minus 2 weeks was the day by which clothes were to be laid out and available for kit inspection and approval. "D" day minus 1 week was the deadline for packing kit into travel pods awaiting transfer to case. Travel pods are a fairly recent

Rest of kit awaiting inspection innovation that allows kit to be assembled in parcels according to owner, location required and kit type. This allows parcels to be distributed over the 2 cases we are taking which reduces the impact of a case going missing. "D" day minus 4 days saw the travel pods packed into the cases to ensure enough space. It only remains to order and collect currency and load up our Travelex currency card with real money.
It will be a blessing to cease military manoeuvres.
