The drive from Manchester to Stamford was long. Very scenic, as we drove across from to Mansfield, but long. Plus, avoid Chesterfield at all cost, the traffic was dreadful there. We stopped en route in a countryside pub for diner and some darts. It has been a long time since I had played but I still managed to go around the clock. We arrived at the Rutland water after dark thus it took us forever to find a good place to install our tent. We were near the lake so we woke up to a beautiful scenery. We didn't sleep so well though, mainly due to the noise made by the birds at dawn. We should have expected it as it is a bird watching spot. Stamford is a lovely small town and right next to it is a magnificent castle owned by the Burghley, Earl of Exeter. It is a huge mansion with an endless park. We only had a walk around the building and in the park but it is possible to go inside.

Le trajet entre Manchester et Stamford fut vraiment long. Heureusement les paysages étaient fort appréciables. La traversée de Chesterfield nous a pris des lustres (à éviter la prochaine fois). Nous nous sommes arrêtés manger dans le pub d'un petit village. J'ai pu jouer aux fléchettes, ça faisait un bail mais j'ai quand réussi à avoir tous les numéros dans l'ordre. Avec tout ça nous ne sommes arrivés au lac au bord duquel nous devions camper qu'à la nuit tombée. Du coup ça nous a pris des lustres pour trouver un coin où poser la tente. Mais ça valait le coup, on s'est réveillé avec une superbe vue. Par contre on n'a pas trop bien dormi, on a été réveillé à l'aube par tout un tas d'oiseaux. On aurait dû s'en douter puisque Rutland water est une réserve naturelle pour observer les oiseaux. On a passé la journée à Stamford, c'est un charmant petit village. Juste à côté duquel se trouve un immense manoir; propriété du Comte d'Exeter. La bâtisse est immense et le parc autour est tout aussi imposant.
