Today was blissful - no one’s timetable to stick to but our own, so Tom thought we should have brekkie in bed, which was delightful. When we were at Tescos yesterday we found several Kellogg’s cereals, but not sultana bran, so we had to purchase Tescos own brand - which was okay, not wonderful, just okay - but definitely better if you have it in bed! The peanut butter over here is not quite up to the standard of Bega peanut butter either. When we eventually got out of bed we headed off to Great Yarmouth where my Allman family used to live generations ago. We went to the Great Yarmouth Minster church of St Nicholas where my 5G grandfather, William Allman, and my 6G grandmother, Elizabeth Greenwood, were baptised, my 6G grandparents, Francis Allman and ... read more

Time to move on and leave Suffolk for Norfolk, not many miles up the road. Back on the A12, a road which seems to have taken us everywhere in Suffolk and heading north until we came to Burgh Castle on the outskirts of Great Yarmouth. Nice little Camping and Caravanning Club CL called Home Farm. We settled in, had lunch and then went out in Smart Arse to explore. Great Yarmouth first stop except we didn’t. Stop I mean. We had been advised against visiting the ‘attractions’ along the sea front Pleasure Beach but drove along it just for a laugh. Did spot a funfair area called Joyland but even that didn’t persuade us to stop. There were lots and lots of people who were obviously enjoying the town and the promenade was heaving with people, ... read more

Kevin and I got invited to a wedding in England for a couple he had met in Fiji a few years ago, and part of the timing for the trip was for the wedding. It was a quick in-and-out on the Eurostar and up to Great Yarmouth for the wedding....Back down Sunday to friends', who are joining us in Greece. Only on the way to their house did I discover how close Hever Castle, the childhood home of Ann Boleyn, was to them...next time.... The good news is that the weather was a little cooler than Paris, but also perfect for the wedding. Back into Paris, to hunker down to some major sightseeing, on Monday.... read more

Friday 1st Den Helder to Great Yarmouth – 122nm A good sail across the North Sea (for Phil) I was somewhat seasick and the tablets took quite a while to work this time. Nevertheless we got across with Phil doing the day shift and into the night and I took a watch from 2230 for a few hours. We arrived into the mouth of the river and navigated up to the town quay in darkness and all tied up by 0430. It’s not the nicest looking place to settle in, a huge concrete wall to tie up to – that is not floating, but it’s right in the middle of town and Great Yarmouth is actually a very lovely old city. We’ll be here a few days now as the weather is very ordinary for almost ... read more

Yesterday mummy and daddy told me that we were going camping again, this time at Hemsby and with nanny and grandad. I had such a fun weekend. Yesterday we played on the beach at Hembsy, where grandad built me two sandcastles to knock down before he broke the spade, and I nearly made nanny jump waves in the sea - but at the last second I decided it looked far too cold! Mummy, daddy, nanny and grandad played crazy golf too but I was made to stay in my buggy :-( I didn't mind really it was good to see them playing, and to laugh at mummy - she was rubbish! Back at the campsite we played football and I chased lots of bubbles that I made everyone blow. After a quick pub meal we went ... read more
