Off to Tower Hill On the tube to Tower Hill today to visit the Tower of London. I love London in the winter, we were able to walk straight into the Tower and join a Yeoman Warder who entertained us with stories of beheadings, murders and folk being hanged, drawn and quartered.
What a boys paradise, the White Tower containing the Royal Armouries, and every building seeming to have some gruesome tale from its medieval past.
We also had a great look at the Crown Jewels, with such small crowds, we could take our time to admire the Coronation Regalia, all displayed in glass boxes within a large vault. The size and number of the diamonds, precious stones and gold is quite amazing.
Mid afternoon we headed across Tower Bridge to southbank and HMAS Belfast. The old battleship is now an exhibit and we spent some time here before back over the Thames along London Bridge.
We came across the Monument and how could we resist another of Wren's stair challenges! 311 steps to the top to see the night skyline.
