Hello everyone! I am totally new to blogging and this is my very first entry. I honestly don't know how to create a blog or add photos, but bear with me and we will get through this together! The photo is of a bi-plane - roughly 100 years old. Made from wood, cloth and held together with wires. This is currently on display at Boscombe Down Aviation Collection in Old Sarum, Salisbury, Wiltshire. Please pay a visit when you can, it's a small place but with alot of history and you can even sit in the planes and... read more

I feel like the classic American tourist with starry eyes and camera around my neck. Even though it has rained on and off ever since I got here, and I had a bit of jet lag, I have been a diligent tourist. I went to Parliament, big ben, the London eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, a few museums, a cheeky English pub, a wine bar, great coffe shops and I road a double decker bus, the tube, and a boat down the Thames AND I went to Stonehenge! I Feel like there is so much to write about that it is almost overwhelming so I will just focus on a few things. First of all, I am staying with a friend of mine from Idaho Falls, Anna, and her boyfriend James and they have been very gracious ... read more

So here I am setting up my travel blog and finally being able to contemplate the journey ahead. The weekend has been full of ''hello and goodbye again's'' and now I am in the lovely Lavelle family home nice and full from not one but TWO vegetarian curries with my voice finally having a chance to recover from a hectic but fabulous few days (it's so wrong that you really can talk too much!) Tomorrow I'm heading to Heathrow to climb aboard a carrier of dreams (and of course a horrid contributor to the global warming disaster) to Accra, Ghana, where I will hang around for a few days tyring to get a visa for Togo. Thereafter I will make the journey over the border to work with an NGO in Kpalime in the hope of ... read more

And so it begins; well things were proceeding as normal, I got through security and all of the precautions that I've come to expect when finding my way through an airport. I waited in the seating area quietly listening to my ipod and keeping to myself, intently listening for the annoucement to start boarding. Although I remembered at that point what my mum and dad always said which was: "we're all getting on the plane either way," but I still wanted to get on as soon as possible, just habit I guess haha! The plane was a little more packed than expected but still I'm getting on a plane to England so what is there to complain about right? Not at first anyways... As I moved down the plane towards my seat, nervously glancing forward to ... read more

I feel I should do one last blog, to round the year off, and tell you all what I did during my last month in Asuncion. I didn't have internet access there, which is good because it gives me a valid excuse, nay reason for why I haven't blogged, as opposed to my normal laziness. As most of you know I am now back home, and I enjoyed seeing lots of you on Saturday at the BBQ, at which I am sure I consumed enough crisps and cake to more than make up for my year of weightloss. Good times. Although Ralph pointed out to me today that the reason I'm currently so permanently ravenously hungry is that my body is thinking "OOooh plenty! Quick, let's stockpile in case we have to go back to privation" ... read more
