It has been a few years since I have logged on to travleblog, what can I say life gets in the way and I have been busy... but thats not much of an excuse really as I have been using social media and wordpress so i suppose I could have come back and posted updates. Welcome Home

Well, here I am home again. It was really lovely to see my family again. I am still taking up the reins of old friendships, acquaintances, and interests. What have I learnt this time; I'm not sure. Nice to know that I have survived and enjoyed a second six months travelling by myself; the experience enriched by the various people that I met along the way. Must make more effort learning Spanish before I go back and while travelling; but I have said that before. I'm not sure why I travel but feel that I want to do it again. I don’t really understand football; or soccer; or whatever you want to call it. Every now and then I might watch, but mostly I find Kardashians reruns to be more interesting. But hey, I’m in Manchester – so football is definitely in the agenda. Manchester United stadium actually has a stadium ad museum tour programs where you can join and roam around. Scratched Sky - Albert Square Manchester

What are the odds of getting another blue sky in winter? Well, I got it again in Manchester! My string of bad luck finally stopped. I actually don't have any particular interest on the city's attractions. But I decided to pay a visit anyway as my brother is currently taking his master degree there. My Premier Inn hotel kindly allowed me to early check in (it was just 11 am) and that's much appreciated. I took advantage of the FREE metroshuttle buses to roam the town! So cool! There are 3 routes which you can choose and mostly captured the key attractiopns (except the Manchester United's stadium because its located at the city outskirts). After a couple of months of preparation, only a few things remain unticked on the to do list and tomorrow I will be heading to Manchester Airport and boarding the plane to my first destination: Heathrow Airport. With luck this will only be a brief visit and I will make my (rather tight) connection which will send me Bangkok bound. I am planning to be away from home for at least 10 months and while this is quite daunting, it is more than compensated for by the excitement of what I will discover and the fact that I won't have to experience the British weather during this time. Pre Trip Post

Pre-Trip So, the trip has started. It’s begun with a pre trip visit to England on the way to Heathrow for my initial flight to Hong Kong after saying goodbye to all my family and friends over various dinners and drinking sessions last weekend. I left home on Monday 3rd September on the ferry from Douglas to Heysham, a lovely 3 and a half hour sailing going at speeds the rowers at the Olympics could probably reach. Definitely the slowest route to leave the Isle of Man but ultimately the cheapest J First stop is Manchester, where I’ve had the chance to catch up with some friends who I don’t see that often so that has been good, and thanks to those who have put me up. Well we have 25 days, 2 hours and 37 minutes... or so ;) until we leave for our flight to Dubai. My hold all arrived the other week now to begin the mammoth task of packing my life into 30kgs! My plan of action is going to be throw/give away most of the clutter my 27 years of life have collected... Itinerary is really taking some shape now - it should be with only 25 days to go! Got some interesting things planned... Dubai: A trip up Burj Khalifa - must book tickets for this soon! Rooftop bar - "one of Dubai's most sublime, romantic spots" ... shame kissing in public is illegal!! Here we go again...

Hello again! It's been a few years since I last posted on this blog. In the meantime, me and my girlfriend Rachael have somehow managed to scrimp and save enough to do it all over again - this time in South America. I've always wanted to visit South America. From history and culture to wine and football, so many things seem to draw me towards that part of the world. Over the course of the next six months (money permitting), I'll be exploring all of the above and hopefully a good deal more besides. The plan as it stands is to visit six countries - Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil - although you can get a more detailed idea of where we're heading by checking out our South America travel map.
