Well, we made it back home in one piece and I have survived my first two weeks at work.I got to thinking about the many things we saw and did during our six weeks.
Accommodation: We switched accommodation 14 times.
Worst (and cheapest): Bunga Raya Hostel, Kota Bahru
Best: Rambuttri Village Inn, Bangkok
Most expensive: Trekkers Lodge, Kuala Lumpur
Cutest: Symphony Huts, Perhentian Islands
Food:Best: Sheila: Mushroom Omlette at Mawar's, Tioman (when there was no power!)
Best: Stan: Chicken Curry, A.B.C. Restaurant on Tioman
Worst: Sheila: Vegetable rice at the roadside, kota Bahru
Worst: Stan: Chicken curry at Palm Tree 2, Longbeach, Perhensions
Strangest: Sheila: White fruit with little black dots in served up in my museli one day (since found out it's called dragon fruit)
Strangest: Stan: Cuttlefish Balls (that's what the menu said!)
Transport: 8 flights - 4 to get to S E Asia and home again.
4 within S E Asia itself on budget airlines
15 boat rides -- Fastest: Speed Boat to Redang Island from Perrhentians
Most Expensive: Trip around Tioman Island
Most enjoyable: Both Snorkel trips, one around Perhensions and one around Tiomam
Cheapest: Across the river in Bangkok, 3 Baht (about 5 pence)
Biggest: Ferry to Tioman
Smallest: Taxi boats,
Mono Rail: Kuala Lumpur
Sky Train: Bangkok
Local Buses: Bangkok and two in Malaysia
Express Buses: Bangkok to Banphe, Jeruntut to Kuantan and Mersing to Kuala Lumpur
Taxis: Everywhere!
Jungle Railway: Kota Bahru to Jeruntut
Motor bike and sidecar To Medical Centre on Tioman
5 Tuk- Tuks: three in Bangkok and two in Cambodia
Visits:
Islands 7. Ko Samet, Perhentian Kecil, Perhentian Besar, Redang, Lang Tenga, Tioman, Coral Is.
Temples 3. Grande Palace, Wat Po. Bangkok. Angkor Wat,Cambodia
Waterfalls 2. One on Perhentians, One on Tioman
Lakes 1. Tonle Sap, Cambodia

Cities 5 Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Siem Reap, Kota Bahru, Kuantan.

Scary!
Only just read this blog for some reason! It's scary to see how much transport you did in six weeks of travel - eeek! I don't think I even want to think about hours spent on buses, trains, and boats on this trip for a year...better not to know!!!
