Arrived last night after a comfortable trip, including a stopover sleep in Hong Kong. We went for a walk and enjoyed the night lights on Southbank
and even a Klezmer busker. Today was our first proper day and we headed for Tate Modern to see the Matisse cut outs at the Tate. We loved them, especially the jazz series and nudes. Danny's favourite was Horse, Rider and Clown from the Jazz series and we bought a small print of it it to go with my favourite Matisse The Dance. I loved the blue nudes. We also saw a little of the permanent collection. It has very interesting thematic curation and some great works. A surprising favourite was Lee Yufan's meditation on time using a series of single brushstrokes. Less surprising Henry Moore (Deborah) and Giocometti (Danny). Then to St Paul's cathedral for Evensong and architecture. Met Rachel and Adam for a fabulous dinner by two Ottolenghi-trained chefs at the impressive new JW3 Jewish centre. Apart from the pleasure of being together, the meal was awesome. Must make fried cauliflower in date syrup, yum! Now waiting
for Raphael to arrive from Israel.
