Tower BridgeMy friend Meagan planned the day out in London which meant waking up at 7 A.M. to catch the 8 A.M. train. We ended up getting a ticket that included a round fare and an all day tube pass for about 13 pounds. It took about 40 minutes to an hour to get into London. Once we got into the London Victoria station we walked towards the London Bridge. The real London Bridge is just a regular bridge next to the Tower Bridge. The Tower Bridge is what people think of when they think of the London Bridge. On our walk to the Tower Bridge we passed by the London Fire Monument and saw the Tower of London. It was pretty interesting especially since many people were beheaded there by the Queen. After passing across the Tower Bridge we went to find Shakespeare’s Globe. It took us a little while, but we finally found it. I was very disappointed because it was surrounded by buildings and ugly things, so I could only see one side of it. After the globe we got on the tube to go to the Prime Meridian in Greenwich. We got off on a couple of wrong
Big Benstops and by the time we got there, it was a about a thirty minute walk and we didn’t really have much time so I said that I would go and see it when I came back to London. We hopped back on the train and headed for Camden. Camden was way bigger than I thought and I loved it. I’m really looking forward to spending more time there when I come back. We left around 4 so we could make it to Westminster Abbey for the free Anglican service and see Big Ben and the House of Parliament before. It’s about 15 pounds to get into Westminster and I was too cheap to pay that since I have seen a lot of different cathedrals. The church service was actually pretty awesome. It was definitely a cool experience and I got in the Abbey for free. After Westminster, we went to J.D. Weatherspoons to eat, but it was completely full. So instead we went to a pub called the Shakespeare. I ordered a delicious steak and ale pie with some veggies and fries (chips). Once we filled up on food we took the tube to Buckingham Palace. The Queen happened
Buckingham Palaceto be staying there while I was standing outside of the gate. Since it was getting dark, there were no guards waiting outside. We planned to go see Piccadilly at night, so we walked through the park and waited until it was dark. Once it was dark we hopped on the tube to go see Piccadilly and Big Ben at night. There was definitely a huge difference between London daytime and London night life. During the day, London is filled with tourists taking pictures. During the night, London is filled with creatures that barely have on clothes, spraying perfume on the tube, and lines (or queues as the British say) wrapped around building pushing those crazy tourists out of the way. Apparently, the new trend here is to wear a lace, see-through dress with NOTHING on underneath it. Needless to say, I have seen my fair share of British people. Piccadilly is a lot like Times Square, but couldn’t stand up again Times Square. We ventured back into the Tube to go see Platform 9 and ¾ at King’s Cross. They have a little plaque and take pictures but they closed the line. By this point, we were all ready
Parkto head back on the train and go home, so we did. We got back at midnight and decided to sleep for the rest of our lives. But there are still more adventures ahead, so I will put off sleeping until I get home.
