Dancing our Hearts out!
Meg, Ali and I dacning in front of Stonehenge. Hello dearies!
Alrighty, this is round two as far as the blog goes, so get excited.
Last weekend I took a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath, and I was blown away by the beauty!! It's funny because every survey art history class that I have ever taken, Stonehenge has been on page two of the 500 page text books. I was definitely excited to see it in person.
We had to be on the bus my 8am, which was a bit painful to say the least, especially because the sun rises at 8. Anyways, most of the Guilford group ended up going on the trip, along with about 30 other people from the program. The bus ride was a little more than a two hour ride to Stonehenge, so we all climbed on to the enormous tour bus that screams "Why yes, I am American," and we all promptly tried to go sleep. Unfortunately, our tour guide on the trip looovved to hear her voice over the speaker and spoke for way longer than any of us were interested in. I did finally manage to get a quick nap, but I woke up with drool all
Stonehenge
It was so beautiful!! over my coat that I had been using as a pillow. Yuummmm.
Luckily we had beautiful weather when we got to Stonehenge. All I could see for miles were rolling hills of grass with occasional sheep. It was such an overwhelmingly beautiful change from the city because the only grass I had seen since I've been here in Hyde Park. I kept seeing these mini hills of earth and grass every once in a while, and as it turns out, they are prehistoric burial mounds! Apparently, some of them have been excavated, but quite a few of them have not, so they are there in the middle of people's farm land. It's pretty bazaar stuff to think about, especially since so many of them have been left untouched. The closer we got to Stonehenge, the more I saw of them. Along the way I had this fabulous, but unrealistic fantasy that I would discover a tomb filled with jewels and a perfectly intact mummy on a dig at one of the mounds.
...it's a nice thought anyway...
So when we finally arrived, we were fortunate enough to be one of the few tour groups there. We

Another dancing picture!
My hair is ridiculous in this one! had to cross under the road via a tunnel, but when we arrived on the other side I saw Stonehenge and lots of farm land! The sun was right behind the rocks so it seemed so out of this world! I had heard that officials had put up a fence around Stonehenge and so I was thinking it would be a big metal fence encasing the entire structure, but actually it was only a rope that went up a foot off the ground. Apparently though, they are going to close the road next to it in a few years because the rocks have been damaged so badly due to pollution. Their solution is to set up a point that will be a few miles a way so that people will have to walk to it. I have to admit I really like that idea. At least it would me appreciate the distance the stones had to be carried if nothing else. haha- I sound a little too much like I work there or something, so enough of that. I do hope though that yall appreciate the picture of Meg, Ali and I dancing our hearts out in front of the
Stonehenge
My failed atempt to "hold" stonehenge in my hands... oh well prehistoric monument. Good times!
Our next stop of the day was in Bath to see the Roman Bath Houses. bath is a beautiful city in itself, but the farmland on the outskirts is so amazing. I've decided that when I make my millions working in non-profit museums... that I am going to buy a large house on a hill on the outskirts of the city and have a pub in the basement. All I will charge is the cost of the alcohol, so I will not make a profit. My goal is to have an eclectic group of people from all ranks every night for fun times.
P.S. -All of yall will be most welcome anytime!
Not too much else going on around here. Actually, that's a lie -there is so much going on here but not so much time to write it all down! We took a tour of Parliament for a field trip, and then I went to eat Turkish food and see Jazz for another field trip. I love the classes here! I turned in my first written assignment this past week, and considering that I have two weeks left for two
Bath
I love this woman, she has got some fabulous hair! of my classes, school has not been number one on my to do list. No worries parents, I'm not failing yet. I do have to get my butt in gear though because I have two final papers coming up and I just do not have the motivation to write them. That's the general consensus in the apartment, which is a bit of a problem because none of us are motivating each other... other than go to a pub and such. :-)
One of the things that I am motivated about is my trip to Morocco for Spring Break! I'm going with four girls and we are staying at a beach hotel in Agadir. I'm so excited but I definitely need to learn some Arabic or French. I've gotten a few basic phrases down in Arabic but I definitely need some more practice.
Wish me luck with that one!
Alright, that's it for now. I will try and update more often, but I cannot promise that I will be better about it! I hope every one is doing well. Good luck with the weekend and the upcoming week!

Kelsey, Based on my careful analysis of your post, and the photographic evidence submitted, I can only conclude that you are having too much fun. This is in direct contradiction to the seriousness of our menopholitic underscorch, not to mention a severe violation of our interlocumentary distripumoctupus. I have, therefore, no other option except to objectulaminously striate. Make no mistake, young lady, I am serium, and will be dirigible in all further correspondence. Harummph...and...pip pip old chap...I mean, really, cheerio and all that rubbish. Quite. Did you happen to notice the same thing I did through your photographs of Stonehenge? If you look at the stones exactly the right way they spell out two letters: "U" and "J." UJ. Uncle Jim. Or, as some would have it, those with finer taste, Uncle Jime. Perhaps yet another example of my influence on this big blue marble. But, I digress. There was a story on NPR about the football thugs at Guilford. A junior young woman gave a comment--she came off very well, and was genuinely upset about the situation. Apparently, folks are getting together to let the admin know how they feel. My guess is that the football coach will be fired (and rightfully so), and Guilford will have a reevaluation of policy re:athletes. It is an ugly and sad situation. I am counting on Guilford to handle it the just way, and I think this will happen. As a result, there will be positive changes at the school. Well...UJ is a fellow student...and Jeezus Aitch You-Know-What On a Crutch!!!! This is about the toughest thing I think I have done!!!! But I will make it...if not on brains well then it will have to be on my extraordinary charm. =:-o Pip, pip and all that...quite...I mean, REALLY! Take hair Whoops, I mean TAKE CARE!!!! UJ
