Spring is one of the best seasons to make a trip to London. The good weather begins, it does not rain so much and spring reveals itself in all its splendor. The days get longer, the temperatures rise and as every year the events of Spring in London are many and for all tastes. From sporting events to traditional events, to concerts and excursions around London, let yourself be inspired by our guide to discover the most anticipated events of Spring 2019!

What clothes to take to London?

At the beginning of Spring, the temperature during the day is usually around 12°C, but tends to increase towards the end of the season. Spring in London is still a somewhat variable season in terms of climate. That is why it is always good to put a waterproof jacket and a thick sweater in the suitcase: they will be useful in the mornings and on the coldest and possibly rainy afternoons. Carrying an umbrella is always a must.

Accommodation in London in Spring

This year Easter begins in March and ends on April 1, 2019. The school holidays in the United Kingdom are extended by one more week, so the prices of hotels in London do not seem to go down (albeit little) until the middle of the month. However, it is still possible to take advantage of last-minute hotel offers.

Attention to the new schedule!

Since the year 2017, the changing of the guard in London has been taking place every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in Buckingham and every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in Windsor. The ceremony of the relief of the guard is suspended on the occasion of visits of State and special events, or for meteorological reasons if it rains hard. The new dates imply an advance of 30 minutes in the schedule of the change of guard in London, which happens to take place between 10.30 in the morning and 11.00 (official ceremony in front of Buckingham Palace). The schedule remains unchanged in Windsor: at 11.00 in the morning except Sundays. In both cases it is convenient to arrive in advance to get a good spot. At Windsor Castle, the changing of the guard keeps your schedule but it is done inside, so you'll need to buy entry.

Traditional events

Spring in London is marked by several traditional events. This year, Easter Week falls on Sunday, April 1. Are you going to spend Easter in London? Do not miss the traditional search for chocolate eggs in the parks, a very popular event for children. The most important attractions and museums in London will remain open and there will be free events throughout the city such as a representation of The Passion of Christ in Trafalgar Square.

With Saint George's Day, London pays homage to the legendary patron saint of England. Party and fun are a fundamental part of this celebration! Almost all events will take place in Trafalgar Square starting at noon, with a program that includes live music, traditional dance and folkloric performances.
