We did sleep in a little this morning...and really needed it! We woke to a gorgeous, clear, cool, blue skied morning. How blessed we have been on the weather here. A little rain the first half day of our tour in Windsor and a rainy afternoon last Saturday here in London...perfect all the rest of the time. If my new English friend Mike Fossey provided that great weather, I wish him a great big Thank You!
We were on a mission today to clock off the rest of our “want to do” list. We had a good breakfast here at the hotel and were then off to the races. Today was the day for our great adventure of navigating the perils of the Underground so off we went to the Victoria Underground Station. We bought a one day pass that we finally got proficient with using by the time our day was over. We had to change trains at Oxford Circus to get to the St. Paul’s exit. Since we had purchased our St. Paul tickets yesterday, it was a simple matter to get in its doors. Speaking of doors, there was a set of 300 years old doors on
(I think they said the West entrance) that was slightly ajar. That doesn’t sound like a big deal, but these particular 27” tall doors are only opened a very few times a year such as Christmas or when the Queen comes there. They were open today because of some work being done. Another factoid: they don’t have hinges. They use ball bearings. How cool is that? Photography was not allowed so please Google this breathtakingly beautiful place to see some.
Mike, I think I have to agree with you...St. Paul’s has to be right up there as a favorite along with York Cathedral. Westminster is so very impressive and so very old...and so very FULL of things...it is hard to take it all in. St. Paul’s is so clean, airy, and light it gives a totally different feel from Westminster. We didn’t even THINK about climbing up to the top...we have done too many miles walking this week to want to attempt the 528 steps!! So far today, by the way, I have done 12,749 steps and the day isn’t over yet!
From St. Paul’s, we went back on the tube and headed to Leicester Square to look
around there for a while. We had lunch in Chinatown, and then checked out the M&M store before heading back to the Tube and a trip to Harrods. That place is mind boggling to say the least. We wandered through some of the VERY expensive boutiques...definitely “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” places. We enjoyed the candy/fruit/meal displays the most. From Harrods, we walked back to our home away from home and are “chilling” for a little while before going out for supper. We have had a great day...the weather was perfect and we are happy campers.
Tomorrow we head for Heathrow around 11:00 and heading directly for Nashville and home tomorrow afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed for a good flight.

Want to see everything you did today
Well I think we will do everything you did. Loved St Paul’s the tube and Harrods food counter. Didn’t know that there was an M&M store that was very cute. Can’t wait to talk to you both.
