Note from last night: After we got our luggage delivered and got our room organized we realized that we needed to get a little something to eat, but didn’t want very much. (We are going to have to have a “come to Jesus” meeting about food when we get home. Just Saying...) Now for a heartfelt Mea Culpa and apology to my dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Zola. I gave them all kinds of heck last year because they ate at a Burger King a time or two on our trip to Ireland. (This is so hard to say...) it was recommended that we walk directly across the street from our hotel into Victoria Station for several choices for a quick meal. Yes I did say DIRECTLY across the street and how cool is that? (You can probably tell I am procrastinating with getting to my apology at this point. Sigh.) There are many restaurants and shops in the station (which is VERY cool to see after dark by the way) and here was where we had to make a decision...what to have? Wait for it...we did NOT have Burger King (although there was one there). We had McDonald’s. There.
I said it. It is very sad, but that is what happened. We brought it back to our room to eat, and then settled in for the night. Today should be exciting as we get out and about to learn all we can about this world class city in the limited time we have.
TODAY: We had a much easier start since we didn’t need to get on the coach until 9:00. Luxury on that point alone! Our bus driver and a walk on guide gave us a good overview of what we in the States usually think of as London before taking us to Tne Tower of London for a guided tour. Today was definitely a different weather day...cool, cloudy, and somewhat rainy. Luckily the rain held off until we were almost done and we had a very good time there. John and I lucked up with a last minute lecture in The a Chapel Royal of St. Peter. It was facinating and we wished we could have stayed longer to explore. The history there goes back to Roman days which is amazing. Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry the Eighth was executed just outside the church walls
and her body is buried in the crypt. The feel of history there is quite real.
From The Tower we took the bus back to the Doubletree to regroup. We found out that the dining room here serves “afternoon tea” so we opted to partake in one since we had that on our list of things to do. It was lovely, and we enjoyed it very much. We are now back in our room straightening up a little and we may go back out and wander around again shortly. We are thankful that we will be here several more days as the rain is forecast to clear up by tomorrow. Tomorrow’s Hop,on Hop off bus ride is the last activity with our tour company, and then we will be on our own which we are looking forward to.

London Fun
We ate the Red Lion Pub near Westminster station for lunch. The restaurant was in the basement, and it was really good. So try and find it.
