We did the trekking course on Dollis Valley Greenwalk from Whetstone to Mill Hill East on 11th May and found its northern route course – we decided to do the latter course on 31st May. I felt that we would be doing country walk; so we would have a picnic lunch at Arnos Park in the lunch time before approaching Whetstone/Totteridge. The 251 bus was running as normal on the Bank Holiday and it brought us to Whetstone/Totteridge station. There were two concrete paths running northwards – one was footpath and the other one was cycle path – we were advised to stick to the right-hand path. Like the Dollis Valley Greenwalk towards Mill Hill, the course was running along Dollis Brook, but we were largely shown open space surrounded by wide variety of trees, rich ... read more

I’ve been travelling back home from Edgware since 2018 and have found it interesting to see the country walks which have been shown me from the windows every time I travelled on the bus. On e of them is Dollis Brook Walk via Woodside Park which runs Totteridge/Whetstone to the viaduct for Mill Hill East Northern Line branch. We decided to do this walk on Tuesday, 11th May. After having lunch, we took the Piccadilly Line to Arnos Grove and took the No.251 bus from Arnos Grove. We got off at Totteridge/Whetstone station. The trekking course stared from the green park, a few minutes walks from the bus stop. We were following the winding footpath along Dollis Brook. Clear water was flowing on Dollis Brook which was surrounded by dense bushes, old trees and wild flowers, ... read more

Well, from my title you can probably tell that the last 2 weeks have been very busy and full of various things! On Feb. 9, Rhiannon turned 6. It was a fun day and she enjoyed her requested dinner of fajita's and also got a chocolate cake so that was even better. She is such a little woman. It's funny because although the kids only got a day older, they both seem to be changing a lot right now. The week had its twists and turns as Lynne's mom never got any better and it was just a matter of time in hospital before she would pass away. On Tuesday at 4pm, Iris took her last breath and although it was difficult for Lynne and her siblings, Ian and Dawn there was some finality to all ... read more

Wow, I didn't realize it has been so long since I updated my blog! Sorry. Well, the coolest thing after I wrote was Longleat Safari Park. If you haven't checked out youtube.com and searched "wonstable" which are my videos, you should see the monkeys in motion! I was going a little crazy as i really love monkeys and they were climbing all over our vehicle...and all the others too! Basically it is like a drive through zoo which I thought was pretty sweet. After we got through that part, we went to Longleat House - had some lunch, checked out the smaller animals and a couple of simulator rides which were great. WE took a little train ride through the country which was neat as well. There was a little boat ride we took as well ... read more

Hello everyone, It's been a while since I updated my blog but to be very honest, nothing too exciting has happened until this week! Life was as usual, basically getting the kids off to school, breakfast, lunches and then picking them up in the afternoons. I do the usual supper, homework help, tidy in the house, etc. If I don't babysit, I do 2 hours of cleaning during the day. I have learned how to use the cash register at the charity shop now so hopefully next Tuesday I will get to do it all day that i am there because the normal lady is away. I have really enjoyed the training for the First Offender's panel. For whatever reason, I expected a lot of things to be a certain way for panel meetings but have ... read more

Wow, it's been a while since I updated this blog. The past couple of weeks have gone by incredibly fast, it's funny how that goes. I guess my routine is working out quite well now. My day to day life hasn't changed much. Lynne was off work for a whole week and a few days due to her hospitalizations, found that she had a blood clot so she is on some medication but all seems to be alright now, she is back to work daily. So, she's got quite a bit of catching up to do but may be renegotiating her contract or getting a new position elsewhere. Dave's been dealing with the stress but was concerned about me - I am used to all kinds of craziness so it didn't faze me. I mean, I ... read more

WEll, it's been another hectic week and I have officially been in England for over a month now. The first few days here seemed to drag a bit but now I find it's quite routine and I am finally meeting up with people/making friends. It wouldn't be a regular week without some kind of strange happenings so of course, I had another incident of detective work to sort out regarding missing money on my Oyster card. I got to the root of what had happened, now I am just waiting to receive reimbursement for money used up on MY travel card. It's a long story that I won't get into but of course, you can always email me for more details on this and more! So, Lynne came back from Abu Dhabi last week and has ... read more

Hey everyone! Well, the rest of my day Monday was busy cleaning house. Lynne came back from Abu Dhabi, David went to pick her up so I had the kids most of the evening. I took them to the park after school, made dinner, the usual stuff. The kids are starting to get a grip on my expectations, here's hoping! I was pretty tired by the time I was done with them so I decided not to worry about going to youth group as planned. Hoping to go next week for sure though. Tuesday - Lynne took the kids to school because she likes doing that with them the first day she gets back home. Worked just fine for me, I got a lie in (sleep in) and basically just got out of bed when I ... read more

Hey! So, last week was interesting, to say the least. It was full of ups and downs, tears and joys but all in all, I'm still here living the adventure. An adventure that involves travel, family, kids, drama, cleaning, lessons to be learned and experiences to be gained. Where to start? Friday was my first official day off. I stayed in bed late, until like 11 although I was awake from 7 onwards. I just didn't feel like dealing with kids, lunches, etc. on my day off so that was my way of avoiding it! I then caught up on some reading and watched Just my Luck. I've watched the movie before but it's kind of cute so it works anytime. We have pretty sweet tv, movie and music channels here, all of which can be ... read more

Well, where to start? The kids started school on Monday. They wear uniforms here so it's pretty cute. They don't seem to have school buses so kids take public transit and only the adult pays for the fare. My first day was pretty nuts...Dave came with me and we drove there. HELLO CHAOS. We arrived to find a schoolyard full of kids (not as many as you'd see in a regular elementary school in Canada though), teachers randomly around and a headmaster woman ringing a bell. There is no such thing as walking the kids to their classroom down a hallway..weird, i know! So, I met a couple of the teachers but really only remember RHiannon's because I have to see her in order for Rhiannon to come out of the class, very safe in that ... read more
