Our tree!
Set up by all my housemates and I. Very cute. I'm dreaming of a white christmas, just like the ones I've never known. Well apparently it will not be cold enough her in London to snow over christmas day and I should expect my first sight of it over New Years in Edinburgh! I am a little disappointed as it has been very cold over the last week, ranging anywhere from -1ºC to 10ºC but not cold enough for snow. The other day I woke up to a gorgeous layer of frost blanketing everything outside and got very excited. It is all very pretty here in the winter leading up to christmas. The lights on Oxford Street and Regent Street outdo Melbourne cities and the tree in Leceister square trumps any others I have seen (sorry mum, even your bright blue baby!).
This year I will be spending christmas with my new friend Amy and two of my Italian housemates, Davide and Serena. Davide is a pastry chef at Harrods so I am looking forward to see what he may cook! Amy and I have decided we'd better be in charge of the drinks, being the good Australian girls we are. Since we won't be getting snow and it will
just be wet and miserable we have contemplated turning the heating up to 30 and setting up a paddling pool in the lounge room. I am trying to find a Carols by Candelight somewhere around here that we can go to on Christmas Eve. I can't be breaking tradition too much! I will be working Christmas Eve as well so won't be able to Skype home to see Dennis Walter, shame.
A big thank you to my family for the package. I walked in to the kitchen holding it almost in tears. Serena realised what it was and it almost made her cry too. I have kept my word and have placed all the presents under the tree....although one of the CDs may need to be opened on Christmas Eve so we have some carols to listen to at work. Tomorrow is our christmas party so I only have a half day then we all leave the office for a large christmas lunch. All food and drinks are paid for by the company and then after lunch we continue to the party to another venue. The customer support advisors have decided to wear Mrs Clause outfits to work tomorrow
Good morning
I got excited and thought it was snow...nope only what is called 'freezing frost'. It sticks to whatever it lands on and turns to ice. morning so I will be sure to take a photo to show you what I will look like on the Tube/Bus!
As you can tell I am quite excited for christmas and it seems to have consumed my life over the last few weeks. Not much else has happened since my last blog which was quite a while ago now. Amy and I are heading to Edinburgh for the Hogmanay Street Party. If you're not too sure what it is then you can check out the link below:
http://www.edinburghshogmanay.com/gallery/gallery/1464/ I have also now booked a mini trip at the end of January where I'll be heading to Florence, Rome, Prague and Amsterdam with a friend from Australia. I am very much looking forward to it. After that I think it will be back into hibernation to earn some more money to hopefully head somewhere for my birthday.
I will post another blog of photos after Christmas/New Years to let you know how it all went. For now here is a few of a little trip to Greenwhich where we didn't get to stand over the Meridian Line because we are poor and earn £8 an hour
The Queens House
Out in Greenwhich (less than the entrance fee) but we did take a few photos so everyone could pretend. There are also a few of Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. I'm not sure if it is my camera or my photography skills that make them turn out so horrible but something is better than nothing!
To my dear family back home, I hope my cards arrive in time! Otherwise you can expect them in January with other letters/bits and pieces I have sent across the sea. Love you and miss you all, especially over the christmas period.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL XXOO
