When I passed through immigration in London the border control only wanted to chat about the ash cloud. I didn't want to tell him that the skies were clear in Reykjavik because the ash cloud had moved to Scotland. I bought an unlocked phone at Carphone Warehouse because I didn't want to jailbreak my iphone 3G, which gives me enough problems without being jailbroken. It seemed to have issues talking to my old Vista computer, but now that I have Win 7 things have been going okay so far. The helpful sales associate quickly directed me to the cheapest phone in the store, at a price of three pounds (five dollars) with a ten pound top-up (meaning you have to buy a UK sim card with ten pounds loaded). I went to a Korean restaurant in ... read more

Piccadilly Circus was our destination today. Again we played the tourists and caught the big, red, double deck bus into town. We sat in, what I like to call, the tourist seats....the top, front, left-hand side seat has the best view and it is my favourite. I used to sit in this seat every day when I was travelling to work. It reminded me that even though I was on my way to work, I should still appreciate where I was, in arguably the most famous city in the world. After taking some happy snaps in the centre of the circus, we snuck in some shopping at Lilliwhites. Lilliwhites is a massive sports department store over 6 levels! We couldn’t help ourselves and spent quite some time in here. So much time, in fact Mykenzie had ... read more

Had a late dinner with Bob and Rich last night at a restaurant just down the street from our hotel called The Warwick. Originally we were suppose to eat at a restaurant called Polpo’s (Alpo Dog Food as Bob would call it lol), an Italian restaurant our concierge recommended (he is from Italy and said it was his favorite in the city). The place was packed and the waiter kept telling us “just waiting for a table to clear”, which seemed like forever. We ended up leaving heading over to the Warwick instead (knuckles, Bob  - we really didn’t want to eat there anyways lol). It rained pretty good that night. When we got back to the hotel Chris took ½ an ambien and I took a whole one, he was woozy within 10 minutes, ... read more

The Beginning of London The flight from Montreal to Brussels was a little under 7 hours long. Our plane from Montreal was delayed not quite an hour, but the layover in Brussels was only an hour and a bit long. This meant that we barely made the plane to London and our baggage did not come with us. So we were without luggage for the first two days until we finally went to the airport to get it once it came to London. The hostel we are staying at is called The Generator. The other day we went down to Hyde park and Parliament Square. Here we saw Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben (Not as big as you would think but really nice.) These were only self-guided tours just to get a feel for ... read more

Little tired today - I could NOT sleep last night. I skyped the girls around 4:30AM my time, right before their bedtime, which was nice because I got to say goodnight to them. I don't think I dozed off until 6AM. I woke up around 10AM. I really wanted to be up much earlier and go run in one of the London Park’s with Chris, but he let me sleep in. We'll try it tomorrow. The music in the lounge did finally die down around 11PM, but people kept moving furniture around until 5AM. It was like they were dragging a couch back and forth all night. This morning we asked to be moved and we are now on the 1st floor, definitely a down-graded room, but it’s cute, very shabby chic. As long as I ... read more

We got up around 8AM (midnight AZ time). Not feeling jetlagged, maybe it's because I didn't sleep well on the plane but crashed last night? We are heading to Windsor Castle today. The chapel there is closed, bummer. But we think it will be worthwile. It's an hour train ride out. Will take lots of pictures and Lily and Pad will be with us! Love you Taylor and Lexi. We will Skype when we get back. Have fun today!... read more

Woke up around 8AM this morning. We didn't go to sleep until midnight last night, even though we were exhausted! Dressed and out the door by 9AM and headed to Windsor Castle. Grabbed a muffin at the train station. We had to get on 3 different trains to get to Windsor. Decided against the guided tour, which was nice. We could arrive/leave on our own schedule. From the train station, we walked to Windsor Castle, which was maybe a 5 minute walk. The town of Windsor was really cool. It reminded us of what a Switzerland town would look like. Small cafe's with flowers overflowing in window boxes and small cobble-stone streets. We decided to head to the castle first then check out the town later. Windsor Castle was absolutely amazing. It's almost a 1,000 years ... read more

We have finally arrived! We arrived around 1:30ish PM London time (5:30AM AZ time). It was a good flight. There were three emopty seats in the back of the plane we decided to move to so we could spread out. There were a ton of movies and tv shows to choose from. We took 1/2 an ambien around 9PM. Chris was out about a 1/2 hour later, took me a little longer. I didn't sleep well, but only because I can't sleep sitting up. We took the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station and took a cab from there to the hotel. I think the cabs here look like mini hearses. No trunk (that I could see), the luggage sits in front of you on the floor. It is very strange with the driver on the opposite ... read more

Hi Girls!! Hope you are doing well! I'm so glad we got to Skype with you earlier today. I tried skyping again little bit ago, but no answer. I will try again soon. Lily and Pad have been EVERYWHERE with us. They even went on the London Eye with us! I think you guys would really like it here. There are lots of people, EVERYWHERE! We have already picked you up a small gift (nope, not going to tell you what it is!). We saw the Tower of London today that was built in the 1080's. Almost a 1,000 years ago!! I'm getting ready to download the pictures from today so you can see everywhere they have been. How was soccer today? What did you get at the video store today? Miss you guys so much, ... read more
