The feeble winter sun shines at its highest for the day.
Hello Blog-followers, and a belated happy new b'ak'tun (or happy new year if you're not familiar with b'ak'tuns.)

We are a wee bit late in publishing some of our latest blogs as we got a little side tracked. We briefly bounced between 3 of the world's continents this time around. Usually we seek out sun and warmth due to our homebase being situated in the subarctic (you know - that cold, dark, windy thing at the top) but his time we happenstanced upon rain and clouds mainly... It was an unlikely trip... But not just because of the clouds?!...

We left Canada on a night flight across the Atlantic and had quite the lay-over in London Heathrow. Because airports are generally quite dull structures we decided to take the underground train to Piccadilly Circus to explore London's downtown. We have both tootled and tinkered in London before, enjoying and experiencing London's appeal, but this time it was a wee bit strange as we were both feeling the effects of sleep deprivation and jet lag! Sleep deprived to the point of not knowing whether to eat, drink, sleep or poop - our bodies were exhausted... We roamed the icy streets

in search of hot drinks. It must've been the fatigue as we were chilled to the bones from the moment we emerged from the underground. However, we did enjoy our morning in the city and it was quite nice to see the houses of parliament, Big Ben, Number 10 Downing Street (the Prime Minister's house), Trafalgar Square and the mighty Nelson's Column, even if it was all a bit of a blur! The prices in London were not a blur though. We had no issue in recalling the monsterous transactions required for a couple of coffees and two breakfast bagels...£££!!! Twenty British pounds in London gets you considerably less than elsewhere in the country!

By late afternoon we were penniless and had boarded another plane, still woozy from sleep deprivation. As we settled into our seats, awaiting take-off, we noticed that there were a few issues with loading the aircraft... There were people on the plane with no seats! They were standing for the entire flight! (In the back of the aircraft, so not too many people noticed) On a 3 hour flight, it was "standing-room-only"! Like on a bus in Guatemala... But on a plane? Really? Seriously? And where was this plane flying to?

We will keep you posted.

Dave and Theresa.

Big Ben.

Possibly the world's most famous clock. Although, Big Ben is the name of the actual bell - not the clock.
