We decided to do some exploring on our first Saturday, and headed toward Notting Hill. Our tube line out of Vauxhall (Victoria) was closed for the weekend, so we took a bus over to Victoria station to catch the Central line to Notting Hill Gate. Victoria Station is a large station with rail connections, so it's got food courts and lot's of traffic. I forced Joan and Hunter to let me get a quick shot of them in front of the station with our trusted Starbuck's in hand! Dear Blog: I saw a pigeon...IN LONDON!!! Can't believe I'm actually here. The flight was totally ordinary (not nearly as exciting as Lana's adventure) I rode the tube FOREVER before finally getting where I needed to be. My hostel is in this HUGE park and it is lovely. There were kids playing soccer across the field when I arrived. Done a lot of walking already. Want to tire myself out so that I sleep like a log. Had a starbucks coffee (LAME! I'm in London for Christssakes) next time I will choose the bakery and eat sweets. Might go rest my weary bones and see a movie. Planning the sight seeing adventures of tomorrow. This morning I woke up feeling quite ill again. Allergies have been a killer these past two days. We had registration at City Uni this morning. We all got to pick our classes before the rest of the students. We all felt a bit bad about that, but what can you do about it. I'm disappointed in my schedule. My schedule goes as follows : Monday: 9-1 British Art and Architecture 3:30-5:30 Thought and Expression Tuesday: 9-1 History of Modern Britain Wednesday : FREE DAY! Thurs: 1-3 Theories of Global Politics Friday: 10-12 Thought and Expression Ontop of that I have an internet class called Cross-Cultural Expressions which is just a reflective essay each week that we send it via email. i officially finished all of my moving in everything today...I think. I moved things around my room so I had a little more room, and I feel set at home. I finished all my grocery shopping which took up way too much money. So after going grocery shopping by myself I made dinner for myslef. I decided on Pasta Primavera. I found a healthy recipe and made sure i had stuff to make it (which I did if i added and took out certain things) Unfortunately my oven didn't work ( I know you don't have to bake Pasta Pri. but I wanted to for a little becuase i think it makes things taste better) But it turned out delicious. they took us to a Hindu Mosque. it was so intricate and beautiful. We were there for a service. It was definitely different than aything else I have ever experienced. After that wew etnt to St. Paul's Cathedral. We climbed the 464 steps to the top to see the best view of London. It was absoultely breathtaking. It was a workout though. That's for sure. Me and Heidi have been making friends EVERYWHERE...the weird thing is that they are all from the states...California, New York, and some girl here on an intern for CNN here. ... read more
