London England
Flying into London on Air Transat The perfect starting point for any European travel - in my opinion is London England. It is also probably going to be the cheapest hub city in Europe to fly into/out of as well. The truth is with Europe being one of the most expensive countries to travel to (especially when you make minimum wage) I look for deals and discounts.
We flew with Air Transat directly into London Gatwick- I know not Heathrow- but to be honest a terminal that big I would like to tend to avoid the first time there. Getting in and out of the terminal was super easy- and buying our tickets and getting on the train was working out to be just as assuring...except for the fact that I kept short changing the clerks (not being used to pents and pounds) The train ride over to Victoria station was calming- nice views (of peoples back yards ..almost all of them had Trampolines) Arriving in Victoria Station was an adreniline rush- the beginning of our trip and already I am so excited. The station itself seemed a little bigger than LGW! At this point our biggest decision was whether or not to take the tube or

Arriving at Victoria Station the famed red double decker buses! - we took both. Finding our hotel was not too hard- perhaps it was beginners luck-however the check in was not until 4pm..being as though we arrived in the morning we were lucky enough to have a wonderfuil tour company like Contiki Holidays that let us drop off our heavy ass luggage and roam around London!
The thing is, you would be surprised how much one person can see when they run everywhere. I was so anxious to see as much as possible before the next morning that I swear I was going to lose my boyfriend in the crowds. We managed to check out the famed London Bridge, the London Eye and of corse Big Ben..not to mention do a pretty thourogh walk through of the British National Musem. My idea of exploring is people watching. Seeing how others live their day to days in a foreign place adds to the awe inspiring feel...little cafes everywhere with people drinking and smoking outside the main entrances- fashion forward youngins dressed in the latest (yet very vintage looking) clothes on Picadilly Circus it all seemed like something from a movie set and we were extras...Of

British National Museum course again I stress we were on a budget and dinner for that evening was nothing special (we were still a little jet lagged) so we decided on English Mc Donalds and tall boys of Heinekin we bought from a convienence store...while we were running around we came across hundres of other things to do...however before we knew it 8pm rolled around we just checked into the Royal National and after a quick check of the room and a pre-departure meeting with Contiki we were back upstairs and getting our first night drinks on. Well let me tell you....I was passed out and hearing my alarm go off for the 6am wake up call the next morning before I knew it! ... Today we travel to the White Cliffs of Dover and sail through the English Channel to head over to France!
