Not long now before I go so thought I’d do this blog now as still seemed to be things left to do before I go. Firstly I’d like to thank everyone who came out to Skylark and then Reflex on Saturday I had a great time and it was awesome to see so many people out. Got a little worried at first as only Matt, Tash and Peter turned up on time but thankful that everyone else turned up late together. My first port of call in St Petersburg I am there for nearly a week before I board the vodka train/trans Siberian railway where I will head off to Moscow from there I head to Irkutsk, Lake Baikal and then onto Ulaanbaatar then I head t Beijing. I will have access to internet in St ... read more

Ok here goes. This is my first of many Blog entries I hope for my round the world trip. I thought I would do two blogs before I go to make sure that I can work this computer and secondly to prove to myself that I am a little bit computer literate. I have had my final course of injections these have included Rabies (to protect from Pretzel) Typhoid, Hep and Yellow fever my arms are a little bit shaky but still worth it as hopefully shouldn't catch anything whilst away. There still seems so much more for me to do before I go away and my family are being really helpful doing things for me or telling me to get off my backside and do things before I go. There always seems so much work ... read more

So, its finally here. I have been accepted for a Canadian work visa. This now means the whole trip is going to culminate in some time working in Canada after a very long holiday. So this also means the date that I have to hand my notice in is fast approaching. I am not looking forward to it at all, but once it has been done I know that my departure date will come round quicker than, well a departure date. So I have planned the route, I am now trying to work out what I am going to do when I am in each place. Its completely mind boggling as there is so muh info out there. I guess its just going to be easier to just turn up and see what happens. I only ... read more

After 5 months off I finally had to start work again. Getting up early was a b*tch, fortunately I start at 9 so it’s not too bad. My office is in Croydon, which is about an hour (door-to-door) from my flat. Travel costs just over £90 per month so isn’t cheap. Still if I worked in the centre of town which is closer, it would still cost the same due to travel in zone 1 being expensive. My company is Direct Line Insurance, our main field is car insurance, but we also do home, pet, travel, life and a few others. My role involves a range of tasks such as putting new content on the site, testing content changes and links, and competitive analysis of other insurance companies’ websites. The first week everyone from my team ... read more
