bonjour! so eventhough our blog says london (which we arrived in today) this blog is about our parisian travels. so yesterday my sistah, chris and I took the metro out to Versailles to visit with Marie Antoinette. However, when we got there there was a severe lack of tourists hogging our photo opts, which unfortunately ended up being because it is closed on Mondays :( quite sad it was that we couldn't go into the famous palace, but make the best of it we did! Domain de Marie Antoinette's little home that was on the grounds was open so we started on our trek there. we were able to wander the gardens and so got tons of really cool pictures. i grabbed my sister's arm and pretended we were Marie's "ladies in waiting" strolling the gardens ... read more

We arrived back to be greeted by Sarah & Louise with a “ Welcome home oldies “ banner - cheeky gits!!. It was great to see them again & catch up with what they had been up to in their lives. They had prepared the study room as our bedroom which was better than we expected. Fish and chips from Chris‘s in Chiswick was the treat for our first night home in the UK, and a rude awakening to how expensive life is here (relatively); £30 for supper for 4 of us! Good though! We’ve planned a few days to unwind & get into a routine - the first thing being a big shop at Sainsbury’s to feed the family. The fridge was empty - no change there then girls! Mind you, the fridge is soon ... read more

So soon now till I go. Have most things organised, just the last few details to finish, the basics like checking out my scuba kit etc. The plan is that we arrive in Kulua Lumper on the 15th September and fly on to Kota Bhura, stay the night and the next morning go over by boat to Perhentian Kecil. Then spend three or four days diving before deciding were to go next. Am hoping that Elaine or Francine will be able to meet up at some point and join in on the fun. But most of all I can't beleive that in just over two weeks I shall be back in the wonder of the sea, finding all those wonderful things! ... read more

Sssshhhh! Got to whisper....I'm at work! Yup, working again after three months off. Despite the time off, I'm still having to stop myself from answering the phone with "Prospective Students' Centre, Danielle speaking". Brainwashed or what? It's Thursday afternoon, about 4.45pm and I technically have to work until 5.30pm. But I have nothing to do. Done it all. My theories about HR have been confirmed. They are so not as busy as PSAC! But I digress, this is a travel blog... Things that are different about working in London - - Travelling - I have to jam myself onto the train in the morning. Literally. Once I make it to the station. Yesterday I just took the plunge and crammed myself in, hoping to God that the doors wouldn't slam on my ass. Or my head ... read more

We made it. I had my doubts when I saw the Korean Air plane. Flying in it to Sydney would be dodgy but for 10 hours over deep seas was a scary thought, and to top it off, only one English movie (no personal movie screens). I also realize now why we don’t see Korean restaurants around, yuk. First stop Seoul, great 5 star hotel but kind of in the airport carpark, it was too far to go into the city. Thurs 24th April- Finally @7pm, Chiswick Hotel (pronounced Chisick). The hotel is old and basic, as expected for only 65p, but the area is great, gorgeous houses, spring flowers and blossoms in bloom. Better than I allowed myself to imagine, and the cutest little shopping strip (window shopping only). ... read more

Hey guys, Well here is the final blog! I am writing to you from my uncle's 'Hotel chez Ants'. I have been here since Saturday when I left Grandma and Ron from down the South Coast...and just in time too...they have been having gale force winds and the storms have been incredible...! I have confirmed Grandma and Ron are safe and have been warding off any danger with copius amounts of gin and tonics. It was really hard leaving Hotel Chez Grandma - every night at 6 o'clock was gin and tonic, sodoku and pringles time. I was even more devastated as I had managed to beat Ron in Sodoku for the first time on the last night so seriously people, would you want to leave when you were on a winning streak?! I should say ... read more

Just a short pre-christmas blog update.... From Aswan in Egypt we took a Felucca on Captain Nemo's Washington boat down the nile to Luxor. We suspect he wasn't the real Nemo we had been recommended and it was one of many Washington's, but his crew (Mahmoud and Ahmed) managed to safely navigate us down the nile for 2 days and nights so it really didn't matter. The first night we went into Mahmoud's own nubian village and had dinner (separate from our hosts) and socialized (the men in one room, the women in the other). It was a wonderful experience, and they were very friendly to us despite considerable language barriers. The next morning Dot had a bit of the Delhi Belly, or in this case the nauseous nile, so she tried to sleep while Dan ... read more
