So, here I am, in London. Haven't done much except drink, sleep and snog since I got here. Wait, that's a lie, I also got a wicked job. I will be working a s a tourleader in Egypt. Crazy stuff, really it is. It hasn't set in completely yet and I'm certain it will not until the first breath of Egyptian air I brreath stings the inside of my nose. For now I am just content to find myself nice plate of English and to dream about the pyramids @ Giza. When I return home I will have so little time to say goodbye, settle things and be back here in England again for the first part of my training. WEll, i need to go because my internet time is running low. Until next time...Jaym... read more

I must say that my Cloud Cult t-shirt with the words, "Please Remain Calm" on it garnered attention from people young and old; I even had a couple of teenage girls ask me where I got it. For some reason, that saying really interested people. I got a few knowing laughs and few thoughtful looks as well. I have a busy week ahead, as I start my new job Monday. It is a little bit outside London, so I will be traveling by tube, train, and bus to get there! So I took it easy this weekend, tried to organize a little bit. I even watched a little television. Many of the programs are devoted to the fact that the anniversary of 9-11 is on Tuesday. There was a program about a photograph taken of a ... read more

Ciao! Well I've just finished my Contiki European Whirl tour, what a hectic couple of weeks. This realy is the first oppotunity I've had to update the blog since I started. Most days we'd get up around 7am, and either explore the city we were in or drive to the next city, then finish the day with a really big night out on the town. Absolutely awesome, but also very draining. I've just tried writing a brief itinerary and it's too hard! The highlights have been partying in Amsterdam, the Berlin wall and it's history, finding a chapel with human skeletons arranged in various ways (40000 people's remains) in Czech Republic, Munich Beer hall was great, riding in a Gondola in Venice, standing in th Colosseum in Rome, buying a leather jacket in Florence, riding a ... read more

Pictures- http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/558471847GVcNTK Camden Town Market (LOVE IT!!!) Punk + alternative + individuality = Camden Camden has a very strong influence on London fashion. Compared to the US, Londoner’s are more experimental and unique with their own style. Of course, the current trends are obvious and everyone has the latest look, but people like to take more risks. Imagine…. A girl walking down the street with large hot pink platform boots, fishnet tights, a lime green pleather dress, and spikes around her neck….. I swear, not one person gave a second look. Now this look is not the norm, but it shows how individuality is encouraged here in London. With that said, Camden drives this individuality. Its large outdoor/indoor market, open everyday from 11 am to 7 pm, sells everything from preppy sweaters to gothic corsets. The ... read more

London, like any huge cosmopolitan metropolis, is the home of many nationalities. Roughly 40% of the London population is of foreign origin, you can hear people talking in Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Bengali, Pakistani, Polish, Japanese,etc... The Camden Borough is supporting a project which wants to bring this diversity of languages closer to everybody and encourages teaching all sort of languages after school, community languages that is. They're sponsoring a Teaching Community Languages course which I attend every Friday for 3 hours and it's run by a lovely Bengali teacher. From what I've seen so far, it looks like it's gonna be lots of fun and lots of work as well, as we have assignments and very strict dead-lines, but there's nothing to fear, I've always been quite studious, and I actually enjoy it. The group ... read more
