Goodenough College is located near Russell Square Station. Being in Bloomsbury it attracts as residents, writers and musicians as well university students of many other disciplines. I lived here from 1990 to 1992 with about 750 other post graduate students from all over the world. It was an enlightening experience.... read more

Quickly quickly, quickly. This is just going to be a quick entry of a few things of note that have happened lately. I had a very relaxing weekend. Worked some on my religions paper, 'the character of the history of the Jews in England' yeah...... I didn't do as much as I should have. But I'll get there. The kittens are as cute as ever, I didn't take anymore pictures, next time I will. Chris and I are planning our holiday, which is over my break and is coming up in 2 weeks. I found flights for as cheap as £1 but we will probably end up paying £15 for them. Right now we seem to be keen on going to France, I had thought Marseille would be nice but I'm finding better hotels for La ... read more

Who ever invented the idea of maths at 9 in the morning obviously never had a taste of their own medicine. It was, quite literally, painful to try and stay awake in that class. He handed back our assignments, not sure if those are even any part of the final grade at all, but I was quite suprised to see that I got a B-. My first mark of the period and it is a B-! I must say that I was a little disapointed. I've been disapointed with many things lately. Including how much I am spending, how tired I feel all the time, which I am sure has something to do with the fact that I don't have a gym membership, how little time I have to go exploring, I feel like I haven't ... read more

Nothing much happened last night, I did homework, washed some dishes. Poured over the few notes I have gotten in the mail so far. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I really had nothing else to think about last night, but I really miss home. Maybe I will make the cornbread tonight, the box that Mama sent me in the post. But anyways, my thoughts were interrupted at about 11 when the fire alarm went off... again! It triggers so easily, it is always someone cooking that sets it off. This is probably the sixth time since we've been here. It's gotten so bad that people have stopped coming out, so they sent around angry e-mails saying that if we don't come out we will be fined for compromising our own safety. Everytime ... read more

Tuesday was back to the same old grind that is life in London. I woke up not knowing where I was and after 15 minutes of telling myself I should get out of bed, I rolled out, put some clothes on... then realized the windows were open so some residents of central London got a free show... Stuffed my face with some 'fibre flakes' and forced myself down the stairs and back up to room 15 for 'finite maths'. Another maths class that I could barely stay concious during. I think it would be better if he wasn't sooooo slow. I got out of class at about 10:30 so I walked to Sainsbury's to get some groceries, check this out: Peanutbutter, Jelly, bread, bagels, cheese, cherry tomatoes, 4 peaches, 5 nectarines, 4 cans of soup, and ... read more

I hate waiting more than a day to write because then I have so much to cover, so many pictures to upload. Reading back some of my entries I realize I have a lot of grammar mistakes, so I'll apologize for that now, I don't really like to proofread, but you all are smart and I think you get the hint. Yesterday was my second day of classes so I began at 9 am with Math for Liberal Arts. I hope that remains as easy as it is now. But my professor Dr. Burrows I think his name was cutest old British man I have seen yet. He walked in wearing a white tuxedo shirt and jacket with a red cravat tucked into his shirt but was easly visible through his white shirt. He also had ... read more

Let me just pick up exactly where I left off. Yesterday after I came back up to the flat from blogging I realized we had nothing much to do. Then I came up with the brilliant idea that since I now knew where Trafalgar square was, thanks to our lovely jog on the scavenger hunt, I should take advantage of some of their free museums. So Andy, Matt, and I walked down to the National Portrait Gallery to have a look. My favourite is the Tudor gallery of course. Although they don't have my favourite Holbein of Ann of Cleeves, I wonder where it currently resides. Look at that, barely a week in London and I already sound more sophisticated. Every art gallery is just too big for any patron to give all the works any ... read more

Why do I write so many of these? Maybe I won't have too much time after classes start. It seems that everytime I am between going out, I come down here to check an e-mail and add one of these. Is anyone besides my family and Coral actually reading these? No big deal if so or not, just wondering. But then again, maybe I will write just as much because my "first year experience" class requires us to journal. So, I'll just copy and paste some of these to my FSU blackboard account :) What have I done since last we chatted? This afternoon I bought a USB drive from some Indian man who gave me a discount. I'm pretty sure that some of those drives were used. Why else would the same exact drive be ... read more

I'm so brilliant at living on a budget. So far I have spent only £36. £1 on postcards and £35 to prepay for my entire paris trip! The buildings here are so confusing, it is like a labyrinth. I literally got stuck in the basement area for 10 minutes last night trying to head back from the computer lab. You have to go up some stairs, then down others that are hidden near a lift in the back, there better not be a fire here I may never get out. You have to use a swipe card to get in and out of every building and every room. But they close the front door of my building at 5.30, and then I have to go through the basement and out the main building to get out. ... read more

wow, that was an ordeal to fill out exactly where I am now residing in the world. Before I get ahead of myself I am going to start from the very beginning. I hope the jet lag doesn't catch up with me before I finish this. So, I left my house around noon on Wednesday, which feels like much longer ago than just yesterday. Actually it was more like noon thirty because Coral was late. Or as we would say in England "half-noon." The @ and the " are on really awkward places on the keyboard. And I can now use this symbol £. Ha, and this one €, I don't even know what ¬ is. Anyways... It was pleasant enough car ride, I was definitely trying hard to be peppy, or even just maintain a ... read more
