Left home on Tuesday 12 June at 6.45am to get the 10.15 Dover to Calais crossing. First photo is of our "home" for the next...well could be any number of weeks, we don't have a fixed plan, just to eventually get to Formentera, as leisurely as possible. Arrived at our first camp site destination Le Brevedent around 6pm local time. It was raining when we left the UK, and it's still raining!... read more

I signed myself up for an adult education course at Witham. I picked beginners art as I enjoyed art at school and wanted to get better. My first few attempts at drawings were a bit ropey, the teacher was good and we got to play with lots of different mediums. It's good fun to spend a couple of hours a week playing with pastels or paints and seeing what happens. I have started my sketch book and plan to carry on with some doodles of art. Whilst I am no master and my pictures will probably never be seen widely I am enjoying myself and that's all that counts!... read more

On Saturday the Diving Club organised a Treasure Hunt from Witham ending up at Woodham through the Dengie area. This was for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and our Diving Club. We were so lucky with the weather which was cold but dry. Four of us have been planning this event for some months, spending time in the area, compiling questions and the route. On the day we dressed up as bunny girls - sleepy, dive, super and sexy bunnies. The Braintree and Witham Times even popped down to take a photo for the paper. We had twelve teams of between two and four in each team taking approximately a 32 mile route to the Bell Pub in Woodham. Prizes for the winners with the most points, donations and gifts for the raffle, best fancy dress costume and ... read more

Bramston Sub Aqua Club will be running a Wacky Races fun rally around Essex, so the ladies from the committee met up for some top secret planning. We all met (with Ian and Wayne) for a big Sunday brekkie at Weatherspoons and had a catch up before we left the boys and drove towards Maldon. It was a fantastic day, we had such fun coming up with clue ideas, visiting lots of villages, meeting local helpers (Mrs Pepperpot included!). We stopped in Burnham for lunch where I had a scrummy crab salad and spuds, before heading out on our way finishing at about 4pm. Tired by all the driving and thinking I was glad to be home, but had had a lovely day out in the countryside. Looking forward to the actual race day, when we ... read more

I was due to be working in Hawkwell in the evening, however I received an email telling me not to worry and take the evening off, so I did! Wayne and I headed to the gym for a work out and a swim, after a shower and change we had dinner in the club bar. Both of us had delicious salads mmmm. It was really great chill out after a good fun work out. We then headed to Freeport to see the new Harry Potter film. It was really good! Both of us enjoyed it, we munched at chocolates (to make up for all the earlier exercise) and after a great evening headed home for an early night.... read more

“Who’s Jim” is my usual response to “I’ve been to the gym” and now I am one of you!! What has happened, having never stepped in a gym I have JOINED one!!! Actually rather pleased as I can now go swimming lots, before work/at lunch/in the evenings! This not only will help me get fitter (my stomach is growing - perhaps all those entries about food give that away!) but it actually is making me feel better generally. More awake, less grumpy and refreshed. The sauna is also nice, helps me chill down whilst heating up after my swimming. The gym has a golf course that I can use (the 9 hole 3 par bit, and yes I do know what that means - well sort of!). It also has a steam room and hot tub. ... read more

Latest in my very dull life... Monday - was teaching all day, no chance of a break or rest. Had an evening meeting so ended up working 9am-10pm with an hours break in total. OUCH! I love my job!! Tuesday - was less bad. Decided not to go to salsa as needed to rest and recover from the invasion of flem. Plus everytime I moved I rattled! mmmmmmmm Wednesday - we had lunch at work mmmmmm yummy! Chilled out day all round Thursday - I was busy lesson planning and catching up with all my work that had not been done on Monday and Wednesday due to having to be polite to students! Thursday evening was FUN NIGHT at the dive club. We had ordered the giant inflatable island, but the pump was broken so we ... read more
