Ok, so two days ago we met up with Ron who had hired a car to drive up to Durham to spend a bit over a week here and visit Adrian's family. The drive from London was a long 5 or so hours so we were hungry and tired by the time we arrived here. Adrian's family lives in Chester Le Street, which I later learnt is in fact a small suburb, not a street. This place is quaint and cute, with a very close knit village feel to it. Everyone seems to know everyone and there are plenty of trees and parkland everywhere. The weather has again been superb since we arrived, which we expected and were told to be much worse.

The first night we arrived, we were greeted by the start of Adrian's enormous family here. Sue and Joe picked us up, drove us to Miriam's place which is only a few streets away from where we're staying and apparently the entire family only lives streets apart from each other as well. We were completely overwhelmed by everyone's welcoming and hospitality, especially Joe and his wife Maureen who have been kind enough to move out of their

own flat in order for us to stay there for the time we're here. Slowly, the whole family started arriving until I had no idea who was who... I'm sure I'll learn their names by the time we go.

Yesterday Joe drove us to Durham where we visited the Cathedral and walked down the riverside which was spectacular. We then met up with Ron and just relaxed back at the flat planning our itinerary for the next week with Joe and then ate our first real home cooked meal in a while (just pasta and salad - but it felt good to eat at home).

Today started with us meeting almost the entire gang at their local cafe where they meet for breakfast every Saturday morning. It's so lovely that they are so close and you can't help but feel caught up in the atmosphere. We'll be meeting them tonight at the pub followed by seeing Sue's messy place. We then drove up with Ron to see Hadrian's Wall, which Adrian has arrogantly claimed as his own wall. Anyway this blog is getting quite long again - Adrian is just finishing the ironing like a good housewife and we'll meet up with Sue later tonight!

Hope everyone is well back home - happy mother's day for tomorrow!

Adrian's Wall
I love it - that type of humour appeals to me Xuan...as corny as it is.
