Right so its just 2 days before I head off to Keyna then it's 7 and a half weeks of the unexpected. I'm going out to work with local communities and teach in a school for 4 weeks. After all of that I'll enjoy the famous masai mara safari! So far I haven't even started packing; I hope my organisational skills pick up when I'm out there. Pretty nervous about what to expect but it should be a once in a lifetime experience (as everyone is telling me) so that's something. Every weekend I'll be updating my blog sharing everything that went on in the week. Here's to a safe trip... read more

The final day of this adventure saw us boarding both flight numbers 14 and 15 back home to clock up over 30,000 air miles in three months we worked out that we have spent the best part of two days of this trip in airports and can face no more over price coffee, queing and the general nightmare that is air travel the 7 hours in LAX being the low point. So as we touch down in Heathrow we have four hours to wait till our next flight home to Manchester and hopefully our welcoming party . The thing that hits you flying to Manchester is just how beautiful this country is England’s green and pleasant land sparkles and no where is as lush and colourful as our own countryside. the worlds a great place to visit ... read more

Well, here I am at the beginning of my adventure, at home in rainy Cheshire. Had possibly the worst day for a couple of years, and it's only 12:17..... Well. I was late for Spanish already so was already onto a bad start. Went to get into my car at 10:00 am this morning, and what did I find? MY CAR KEY HAD SNAPPED IN HALF! (it was also my spare key) I felt like bursting into tears, not only was I going to get eaten by my Spanish teacher for skiving AGAIN, but I was going to have to pay a small fortune to have my locks changed if they couldn't cut me a new one. So, someone seems to think that they have found the original key for my car and it is somehow ... read more

This 7,650 mile journey by train across 2 continents was a great adventure stirring the emotions and far exceeding my expectations. It took me nearly half way round the globe providing the opportunity to see vast contrasts of scenic beauty, culture and climate in a short space of time. The thoughts and recollections from the journey will no doubt continue way into the future. For those who think the 'Trans-Siberian' is just another train journey, apart from it being the longest train journey in the world, it is much much more than that : it’s an adventure and one of the very few left on our planet that can be completed by absolutely anyone. So go on ... do it ! ... read more

This time a visit to a corn mill dating back to the mid 1700's.Unique in the fact that inside the building there are two water wheels, the first spilling water onto the second. The internal oak beams seemed to be hand carved into arches and took one right back in time to a bygone age.At the rear of the mill is a holding pond for water storage and at one time was well stocked with fish a supply for the local squire. Now all manner of wild life are supported by the water and woodland that surround the mill.
