There comes a time in every man's life when he must admit that he's getting old and as my 30th fast approached I decided to face it head on and make an event of it, it's not as if our round the world trip has been arranged by Saga!!! STA travel is for students and youngsters (so i keep telling myself). With Carla's birthday on the 27th and mine on the 29th, we had a busy week either side of the 2 dates. Firstly another trip to North london to visit Lorraine and Andy, great food, a comedy club and a relaxing sunday in regents park followed by our first proper good bye before the trip !!!! Carla's birthday came first on the Thursday and with mine on the Saturday we had booked a private room ... read more

Thought we would report on our Car Boot sale in order to raise further travel funds and clear out some of the thousands of books, CDs and DVDs we had filling up Chris Parrys garage. The day began at 5.30am with some of the previous days excitement waining, the car had been filled to the brim the day before so straight to MK bowl to arrive at 6am and set up in the rain with dealers hovering "Got any Jewlery, sweetheart???" "er no, how about a Storm watch that doesnt work?" although a request for CDs was met with a first sale of 8 quid for 7 CDs, were off!!! The rain continued in its finest form, but our spirits were lifted by £15 for a power shower (still boxed) and £20 for a chair on ... read more

Friday 23rd June (bored at work) In the middle of World Cup fever! Brazil and the Argies look good, England look Awful with Ecuador coming up on Sunday. I have 1 week left at work, Carla 4 and the plans our moving at pace!!!! Our new home is my Bros spare room, but hes made us more than welcome and we all sit down for dinner at the table each night like a strange disfunctional family. We dont know if its the excitement of the trip but leaving our house last week didnt pull on the heart strings anything like as much as we both thought it would, but a wonderful chapter in our lives has ended and a new one starts, although 6 Southbridge Grove will always be where Matt & Carla began and we ... read more

Another boring saturday beckoned until we decided to take a trip to Milton Keynes to watch the mighty Gills take on the M.K Dons. After checking directions, parking, wheather report and the all important directions to the nearest pre-game pub we were ready for the off. We had to make a couple of quick divertions on route to the home of G.F.C to pick up our tickets, then to a cash point before heading north. Whilst travelling up the M2 we were over taken by one of the gills players Andrew Crofts and became star struck feeling it necessary to overtake him and give him a few smiles here and there, then onwards and upwards onto the M25 cruzing along nicely in the Rover until stop!!!!, the M25 shut due to an accident, even the ... read more

Song playing here or in my head: KLF - Last train to Trancentral Right, time for my first proper entry on here. I’ve been a member for 2 months now and all I have contributed is a picture of me drunk at the 2004 Berlin beerfest. There is some top blogging going on here and it is good to see some people at places where I have been having a good time and people in places where I can’t wait to get to having a great time. I WANT TO GO NOW!!!! First of all, let’s introduce myself. I am a 25 year old who wants to see the world. God knows how I could have done it with a mortgage and a job. It had its rewards but not enough, as always! I was lucky ... read more

After spending a few days in Milton Keynes I'm started to get a feel for the place. It's large - everything has been given a great deal of space. I arrived at Milton Keynes central rail station and walked the mile up to the city centre to explore. The city centre is basically a series of huge intercontected malls and car parks. The city has been described as a series of endless roundabouts - from my point of view it was a series of endless underpasses. To be honest walking around Milton Keynes was no where near as difficult as I had expected, the walkways and cycle paths are combined and it seems possible to get to any other point in the city without having to cross (or cycle on) one of the many dual carriage ... read more
